What happened in Turkish football today? 06/04/2018

Basaksehirspor has got important win with minumum scoreline against Yeni Malatyaspor.

Basaksehirspor has managed to win Super League 28th week game with 1:0 scoreline against Yeni Malatyaspor with controlling game and hence getting leadership of the league at least until Monday as their aim for league title continues.

Despite of winning game with minumum scoreline it needs to be stated that it has controlled game from start to an end even through an ineffective performance from Yeni Malatyaspor has led for them not able to turn game even if their had chance. It needs to be stated still that Basaksehirspor did play for scoreline and despite being statistically stronger their didnt manage to raise tempo too high and didnt have high number of the chances. In fact, this game could be seen as dangerous and if their opponents has provided much more effective game end scoreline could be dangerous. Therefore such performance during last 6 weeks it could have some difficulties as it would be having trouble with better-performed players. Basaksehirspor player Eljero Elia has also find a goal as he does in recent weeks and if their manage to get title at the end of the season he would play one of the main roles for this success.

Yeni Malatyaspor did have trouble at creating chances during game with not able to provide last and crucial passes to its attackers, which towards at the end of the game has been played with 3 forward players. In fact, it has been dissapointing game to see that as their are at the middle of the table. However, in all fairness it needs to be admitted that level of players has played crucial role with this scoreline.

Basaksehirspor has got crucial win with aiming scoreline with 1:0 scoreline and has kept itself right into title race as it would be playing a very important game against Galatasaray next week which could even bring them league title this season.

Besiktas would be having difficult time without midfielders against Goztepe.

Besiktas would be carrying its title race ambitions against Goztepe during Super League 28th week game as team would be aiming to use its home ground advantage against legendary Izmir site who has shown highly level performance this season.

This game is also would get an interesting twist as it would be 1st visit of Goztepe head coach Tamer Tuna following last season title which he has got as Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes and hence does have an important place both at the club and also fans. There is possibility to some extend that it would provide some pressure towards Tuna for game, but in same time he would be able to get through this pressure aiming for a win. Another interesting aspect which has been raised by game is arguments regarding of Demba Ba following Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman that he would like to see Ba at the squad. Meanwhile, Besiktas also has some difficulties for the game as it missing almost its midfield area due of bans and injuries and this could provide without doubt good opportunity for Goztepe during the game. It needs to be still remembered that Besiktas is playing at home a factor which would provide extra motivation to team.

Besiktas are favourites to win game without doubt but it wont be straight forward game for them as Goztepe does show most of the season high level performance and hence would give their best for game.

Kayserispor and Trabzonspor would fight for 5th spot with game against each other.

Apart of ongoing title race, there is also big competition to get 5th spot which is likely to be ticket to the Europa League, unless Akhisarspor doesnt win Turkish Cup at suprising manner. Hence, game between Trabzonspor and Kayserispor could be among one of the key games during this week.

With Trabzonspor being at 5th place with 42 points and Kayserispor being just 1 point behind him winner of the game would be ending week at 5th place and get good opportunity to end season at that spot and likely get last Europa League spot from Turkey. Both clubs meanwhile has a task to improve their performance compare to last week against Galatasaray and Fenerbahce respectively if their want to get a win, and team which would be most prepared for a game would win game or at worst case it would be decided by luck or mistake of the opponent. Hence, the game expects to be nerve-cracking as both teams would need to get a win as draw is not great result for 5th spot, even through it would not be seen too much tragic. It is close to call one team for certain, but Trabzonspor does have good advantage at playing home.

This game is expected to be pretty close as been stated above and both teams would be focussing for a win and hence it is expected to be exciting game to watch.
