What happened in Turkish football today? 16/04/2018

Osmanlispor has got an important point while Trabzonspor lost 2 points. 

Trabzonspor which was aiming to make their 5th spot into more stronger during game against Osmanlispor and getting 2-goal difference twice at the game didnt manage to win game and has provided very important point to their Ankara opponents to stay at the Super League.
Even through there was absence of key attacker Burak Yilmaz during today's game its need to be stated that Trabzonspor has started game in an attacking manner and has managed to make scoreline into 2:0 scoreline and has looked that it would be getting pretty comfortable win with its performance. However, Trabzonspor with turning game into 3:1 during 56th minute has went into too relaxing mood in pretty dangerous scoreline and due of losing concentration and also Osmanlispor providing full aim to get into payback to the game as it has found 2 goals at the end of the 18 minutes. Trabzonspor in overall has learned an important lesson from today's game which it needs to keep focus towards game for whole game and not get relaxed at the games which seem to be over. With taking account that it was 1st of game newly-elected CEO Ahmet Agaolu result didnt provide him with perfect result and would keep unhappy.

Even through Osmanlispor who needed point or points didnt start game well and looked like it was losing another game with bad result however staying focus and getting motivated to stay at top league it has got incredible comeback from 3:1 and shown great character. This win would provide high motivation for last 5 weeks of the league.

Trabzonspor didnt manage to get into key position of 5th place but in same time has led Osmanlispor to get important point to stay at the Super League as both ends of league gets into exciting ending of the season.

Galatasaray is only team which would get league title with 100% record without relating to other teams results.

Galatasaray has regained leadership with win against Basaksehirspor in this intense season with 2:0 scoreline as it is entering towards last 5 games of the season. Even through it got into leaders it is only 1 point ahead of Besiktas and Basaksehirspor and 3 points of Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray needs to be stated has shown high level performance during game as it is dominated game from beginning and even moments when it has reduced tempo it was still one which was controlling game. According to fixture and how points are gathered, Galatasaray was lucky to meet with Basaksehirspor as loss towards Genclerbirligi in sense of league chances didnt affect much as it only team which would get title if it wins all of the games regardless of opponents. However, it needs to be remembered that it still has 3 games at away where it shows very poor performance including this weekend game against Alanyaspor. Without having support of their fans it would have issue to dominate game. Galatasaray would also meet with Akhisarspor during Turkish Cup on 18th April for Turkish Cup semi-final 2nd leg game with 3:1 aggregate and with high chance to get to final it would get some motivation for this weekend and rest of the season.

Galatasaray as stated has got into very good advantage for league title but with one mistake could push them as back as 4th place it would mean that their need to show top performance until end of the season especially at away games.

Basaksehirspor needs to show champions attitute for last 5 games if their want this title. 

Basaksehirspor has lost its strong advantage to become main candidate for league title as it manage to win Galatasaray during Super League 29th week game and has provided also with poor performance without much organisational game.

In fact, it was normal for Basaksehirspor to lose game at Turk Telekom Arena where Galatasaray didnt yet lose game but such a poor performance and rather focussing into nerve issues especially from Arda Turan and Emre Belozoglu does raise questions if team is indeed league title material or can hope at best for 2nd best. With such close season all title contenders, including Fenerbahce, needs to show champions attitude, reaction and game to get league title and yesterday performance from Basaksehirspor does raise questions if it can manage that. In same time, mathematically and remembering that Galatasaray and Besiktas would be meeting against each other, Basaksehirspor still can get title as long as their win but their have until 20th April to come to themselves and provide much better performance against Kayserispor during 30th week game which promises to be pretty hard game as their opponents still fighting for 5th spot and have shown some improvements with this weekend after poor performance against Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor.

Basaksehirspor has good chances to get league title but its need to have that attitude which it lacked last season and have shown it in yesterday game.
