Scandalous Fenerbahce and Besiktas game will be resumed on 3rd May from 57th minute.
TFF has announced long-awaited decision regarding of the events which took place during Turkish Cup semi-final 2nd leg game between Fenerbahce and Besiktas making an announcement that game will be resumed on 3rd May without its fans from 57th minute.
As it is known, prior to decision 3 scenarious has been heavily discussed which was either to make Fenerbahce game to be forfeited, Besiktas to be forfeited or continue game from time which it has ended. Decision as been stated has been latest possibly finding an argument that Besiktas has entered to changing room before referee decision from Mete Kalkavan, even through there is no specific explanation provided at least for now. Here it is important to remind that according to rules provided from TFF game would be resumed in exactly same condition which it was abandoned. Hence, Pepe who has recieved red card during game would be still go into effect and squad which were present on day would be played between sides. There is currently also conversation if Caner Erkin who has become injured during Super League 30th week game against Yeni Malatyaspor condition. According to rule, as long as it is proven that player is injured Besiktas has right to change player without counting it as substitute. Only thing which would also be allowed to change is referee of the game which would be decided by Central Referee Committee who can keep Mete Kalkavan as referee or appoint another one.
With reminding that aggregate scoreline of the game is 2:2 from 1st leg and with Fenerbahce does have number of advantage, the opponent for Akhisarspor would be decided on 3rd May.
Besiktas considers to not come out to the game against Fenerbahce on 3rd May
However, it is important to note here that this game might not take place as Besiktas administration and head coach Senol Gunes following events during Fenerbahce game considering strongly not to come out to the game.
Prior to decision to be made Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes who does to be psychologically affected by events on 19th April when events took place is reported to state clearly to administration that he will not come out to the game in whatever circumstances as sign of protest. It became clear that Besiktas would have administrative meeting on 26th April where it would discuss and decide if their should play at the game or not. Even through this decision does have some understanding in their view, if this decision would be made Besiktas would recieve forfeited result regardless of events in 19th April obviously and would be banned from Turkish Cup during next season. It needless to state that whatever would have been made both sides would be unhappy with it and this is clearly what is being observed from Besiktas. It is expected that Besiktas administration would meet tomorrow and decide if it should make decision according not to get fines and ban or would go
emotionally and not play game.
Besiktas does need to respect this decision to TFF and time would show how their would affect and possible circumstances their decision would have.
Trabzonspor does show closeness to Besiktas after scandalous game.
Even through indirectly, those events which took place during Turkish Cup semi-final 2nd leg has also affected into relationship between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor which are been uneasy since match-fixing scandal following 2012-13 season.
Fenerbahce CEO Aziz Yildirim and administratior Sekip Mosturoglu has stated at press conference yesterday that there is some touch of Trabzonspor of those events as Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes, being coach of Trabzonspor during that infamous season, has used his hatred towards team. Trabzonspor even through has been inactive pretty much still did provide signs of their support when it has visited to Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes to hospital when event has took place and also made some comments about TFF decisions showing that their are not unhappy about it. Even through it didnt use much language directing towards Fenerbahce in direct manner still this interest for decision is pretty interesting and active. Of course, it would be normal for Trabzonspor to be in good relation with Senol Gunes as its ex-player and also coach with having an important place at club's history but this activity does raise some questions unfortunately.
Still, Trabzonspor would more or less out of this issue, as it should and not allow for tension to raise even more as it might still be at high for few days at least.
