What happened in Turkish football today? 19/04/2018

Turkish football has experienced another dark day at its history.

Turkish Cup semi-final 2nd leg between Fenerbahce and Besiktas unfortunately would be remembered with some hooligans behaviour which has shown totally unexpected actions towards Besiktas players and also throwing a stand towards Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes head leading him to have 5 stitches.

Unfortunately, at this post we cant talk about football game between Fenerbahce and Besiktas but need to focus into events which took place even through it is still unclear what has led for it. Without doubt those actions cant be given normal explanation as thing were going into advantage of Fenerbahce including with game being at 0:0 and due of away game rule from 1st leg of 2:2 Fenerbahce would get into final game against Akhisarspor. In addition, Besiktas player Pepe has recieved with red card. Therefore, this actions has been abnormal actions from supporters with some of them has been attacked by fans. For instance, it needs to be stated that even through game has been played at high tension it was still in the football level and it didnt go to personal level to extend that to some extend players has been careful to keep tension low from 1st half and therefore this tension has been created mainly from supporters rather than players. It needs to be stated for now it does look like that those actions has been done by outside provacateurs possibly connected to FETO even through its hard to give specific names. It would be accepted that Fenerbahce would recieve very strong fines for this actions and also some criminal activities against Besiktas.

This events does raise very huge questions and Turkish football has shown another dark day in its history and this damage would certainly affect very negatively to Turkish football for many years and would raise question about safety in Turkish football.

Akhisarspor has done good preparation for Galatasaray game and has got well-deserved win.

Akhisarspor player Yevhen Seleznyov two goals during Turkish Cup semi-final 2nd leg game has helped for them to beat Galatasaray during away game and has been qualified for 1st time in their history to Turkish Cup final with 3:2 aggregate.

Akhisarspor has come out to the game with right set of mind, tactics and concentration to the game and with finding an early goal on 4th minute with Seleznyov without doubt has shown that it would be giving their best for game. Taking account that Galatasaray has come out with its heavily substitute squad and didnt manage to get into game at all has also led them to control game and more importantly Galatasaray for not creating much chances and get comfortable to the game. Without doubt Okan Buruk has provided good study of their opponents prior to game and with players excuting this style of play has led them to get surprising but same time well-deserved with and would now focus towards to the final against another Istanbul giant, which TFF would decide following today ugly events at Fenerbahce and Besiktas game, where it would need to also show highly focussed at Diyarbakir final on 9th May. If players would show some focus towards game than their can create some surprise outcome.

Akhisarspor with well-deserved performance has also become 1st side to beat Galatasaray at their home ground during this season and has gained good motivation for last 5 games in season.

Galatasaray reserves have shown very poor performance.

Galatasaray reserve players who got a good chance to show themselves to head coach Fatih Terim didnt pass that test at all as their been eliminated from Turkish Cup at home ground against Akhisarspor in very dissapointing performance.

Without doubt Galatasaray has shown its worst performance during this season by far, as their couldnt get into motivation of the game and also concentration allowing their opponents to control game as their wish for most amount of time. It needs to be stated also that Fatih Terim also did mistake for getting too confident from 1st leg 2:1 scoreline, which is regardless where played, is still tricky scoreline and has paid price for that. Only positive thing is that Terim has become more aware of the value, or more precisely, undervalue of his alternative squad and has set some views of transfers of who would leave during this summer from the club. Players didnt show any concentration from game and even conceding goals didnt wake them up and looked their were ok with such scoreline. There was no each player who could been said played well yesterday and this aspect would make Galatasaray technical staff and administration to consider for.

This result is unlikely to affect their title race ambitions as this squad was different from which is played at league but the main worry for team is still away games which is also included against Alanyaspor this weekend with Mariano not being able to play at the game on 30th week game.

Results:
Turkish Cup, semi-final, 2nd leg
Fenerbahce - :- Besiktas(game has been abandoned at 57th minute due of fans behaviour with 0:0 scoreline)

Schedule:
