What happened in Turkish football today? 06.10

Match-fixing scandal is taking another twist

As expectation of Fenerbahce CEO Aziz Yildirim to be acquitted from match-fixing this Friday , 9th October, is rising among Fenerbahce supporters there are discussions about next steps which will be done after Friday.

Regardless of actions by Fenerbahce, it is certain that both UEFA and Turkish Football Federation will have negative effect to its image. Both federations has agreed that Fenerbahce will not participate in two seasons at UEFA competitions back in 2011.

There are arleady talks in media that Fenerbahce will request for combined 210 million Euro compensation fee from both UEFA and TFF.

If this rumours are true than both UEFA and TFF will have hard time at making themselves clear of their decisions back in 2011 and attempt to save its image. One thing is certain, match-fixing scandal is not over and more interesting days are awaiting us.

Dutch believe of Turkey losing point, might be downside to them.

Interestingly, Dutch side has a confidence that Turkey would lose point somewhere during last two games against Czech Republic and Iceland. As been mentioned in yesterdays blog, there is possibility of this to happen due of both teams fighting for top spot at the group. But Turkey is still closer as it only 4 points in those two games.

However those statements, especially by Robin van Persie, raises other question which is Dutch dont think Turkey is strong enough to win this four points.

Firstly, it is ironic to come from team which lost in total 4 points against Turkey in this campaign and its not certain team might win against Czech Republic. This confidence by Dutch side might in fact get into plus size to Turkey. What is important on 10th October and 13th October for Turkey is to stay focus and believe to enter to play-off qualifier stage of Euro2016.

Bursaspor lost key players so its normal to have worser performance

Bursaspor is among teams in Turkey which in beginning of each season aims to be at least staying close by championship race and aim to get to the Europa League, at least as last spot on the table. So, when the team is having poor performance with losing points at places where it should not it is unsurprising that reaction of club fans are similar to ones which big 4 supporters give to their team.

After 7 weeks Bursaspor has gained 3 wins and lost 4 games and is 12th place with 9 points. Even if team seems to be on rise in past few weeks its still not enough for its supporters as it wants better football.

Today Bursaspor CEO Recep Bolukbasi has stated that he is willing to resign if the administrators of the club will give signs that their unhappy with him. But that might not be solution. Bursaspor as club has lost many its good players during summer transfer window so it was normal for team to participate weaker. Similar story has happened to Sivasspor after its finished 2nd place on 2009-2010 season, as it lost its main players and it became again just an average team.
