What happened today in Turkish football? 13.10
Turkey is in Euro2016 and it deserves to be there
Turkey has qualified to the Euro2016 final tournament which will take place in next June in France as it has qualified as best 3rd spot team.
Incredible thing about those two hours was that before Selcuk Inan incredible free kick goal everything was going as Turkey wanted. Czech Republic was winning against Netherlands, Kazakhstan was winning Latvia. Turkey just needed a goal, and it came in 89th minute by Selcuk Inan goal from free-kick while Turkey was 10 man in field, due of red card by Gokhan Tore.
Of course, it can be argued that Turkey as overall did not play good today, but that is not important. History will remember that incredible goal scored by Selcuk Inan.
In overall, Turkey deserved to be in France especially with performance of last 3 games. Winning Netherlands, Czech Republic and Iceland in last 3 games without conceding goal, it will be shame if Turkey did not get to Euro2016, right?
Trabzonspor should take legal actions in calm manner
Following match-fixing acquintance to the Fenerbahce and its CEO Aziz Yildirim one of the main questions was how would Trabzonspor react to that. Trabzonspor believes that match-fixing did take place and the winners of 2010-2011 Turkish Super League are them.
It is known that club is actively planing to start new case in court at which it would try to overcome decision made by court last Friday. Trabzonspor CEO Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu and other adminstrators are known to treat this issue in very agressive manner. It would not be surprise that they might even criticise court for making this decision.
Legally, Trabzonspor has right and should start its own case but it should be careful at the way its present itself. Agressive actions will only do harm for them in media wise and in perspective of court.
Foreign players seem to play better in national team then in Super League.
As this last two weeks were dominated by Euro2016 qualifiers, one of the aspects which has arisen during those game is performance of foreign players at the national team basis. One of main perspectives was that Danish Fenerbahce player Simon Kjaer, Portuguese players Fenerbahce Luis Nani and Bruno Alves and Kasimpasa Swedish player Erkan Zengin has played better in national team.
It is important to figure it out reasons. Of course, it might be not entirely players fault, maybe their not use used to the league, its players and dont feel as comfortable. But the factor, that maybe those players intentionally or psychologically provide worser performance in Turkey is still present. This important issue which club's coaching team should take into account when players return to their teams for restart of the season.
Results:
Euro2016 qualifier, Group A
Turkey 1:0 Iceland
Latvia 0:1 Kazakhstan
Netherlands 2:3 Czech Republic
