What happened in Turkish football today? 11.10

There are many reasons for Iceland to let Turkey get at least point

As was stated numerous times during this week blog, it was crucial for Turkey at least to gain  4 points against Czech Republic and Iceland for play-off spot at the Euro2016 qualifier. First three points were gained yesterday against Czech Republic, now its time to get at least draw against Iceland.

Among those two games Czech Republic game was seen more harder just for fact that it was played away.  But luckily for Turkey, Czech who arleady has qualified, are allowed in game play to get win to Turkey which is needed for its opponents.

Now, Iceland game to all respect to them as leaders should be easier just in same reason, Iceland won't try its best. Firstly, Turkey plays at home, in Konya, so with big support of supporters it will provide fast-pace confident game. Secondly, Iceland was winning 2:0 yesterday against Latvia, but game has ended 2:2 hence showing loss of concentration by team in later stages. Thirdly, assuming Dutch will try its best to win Czechs, Iceland would not fight for top spot as it is currently 1 point ahead, so the question of prestige is also over here. Shortly, Turkey needs to play its own game and it will get more than draw. However, Turkey should not play for draw, this game plan always brings troubles.

Besiktas will and should fight for its own rights after match-fixing clearance.

All of the focus of the match-fixing scandal was focussed into Fenerbahce and its CEO Aziz Yildirim until now. However, it should not be forgotten that Besiktas are among big losers and casualties of match-fixing.

During match-fixing investigation it was announced that during Turkish Cup final, Besiktas has match fixed its win against Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor (now known as Medipol Basaksehir).
This has led for 1 year ban to participate at European competitions by UEFA and Besikta not openly presenting its cup to the public.

With Besiktas side also been acquinted of match-fixing, club has presented its club at museum. In same manner, Besiktas also plans to open compensation case against Turkish Football Federation and UEFA. Seems like UEFA will have tough time with Turkish clubs in upcoming period.

Ismail Kartal appointment is good news for himself and Eskisehirspor

Following termination of contract with Michael Skibbe yesterday, Eskisehirspor has announced that it had appointed ex-Fenerbahce head coach Ismail Kartal to the post. Ismail Kartal has come to the club at difficult situation:following 7 weeks Eskisehirspor is currently at 17th place with only 4 points and one win. Taking account its a team which always been fighting for last European competition spot this performance is even below worst scenario of the club.

Appointment of Ismail Kartal to club could be right decision. During his reign as head coach in Fenerbahce, as being always assistant coach at same club, was criticised for his inexperience at the bigger position. Playing at the successful but less ambitious club could help Kartal to get necessarily experience which he is lacking at top team. It also good news for Eskisehirspor as their will get experienced head coach who has at his CV coaching top team in Turkey. Ismail Kartal could not be good enough to maybe made club fight for European spot, but should be enough to help club finish at top spot.

In other news:
- Besiktas has into public display Turkish Cup at the museum which it has won at 2010-11 season. Besiktas was among to be cleared from match-fixing on Friday.
- Galatasaray administration has told its players Emre Colak that for now their don't think to extend contract with him.
- It is reported that Besiktas player Mario Gomez is having treatment against injury.
- Sivasspor player Adem Kocak:We are behind our coach Sergen Yalcin. We have started season with him and will finish it with him.
