What happened in Turkish football today? 04/07/2024

Clement Turpin has been appointed to Turkey-Holland game.

French referee Clement Turpin has been appointed to Euro 2024 quarter-final game between Holland and Turkey as he is being one of the leading referees currently in Europe and being stable with his refereeing performance.

To some extend, Turkish football society would be happy to see that it has appointed Clement Turpin as both in national and club level Turkish sides tend to get good result with him which at least does get rid of classical argument of referees being against Turkish teams. Stating that, it needs to be reminded that Turkey never won with referee of Austria game until this tournament so as was known this kind of statistics are not important. Clement Turpin is expected to show fair and balanced referee performance and hence would not likely be any high tension and scandalous decisions.

There is high expectations for this game to be at high level and hence appointing such referee has been right decision by UEFA.

Players need to ignore Demiral issue and stay focussed to Dutch game.

An issue with UEFA opening investigation towards Merih Demiral using nationalist sign at Austria game and also tension it has brough politically should not distract players but it doesnt seem to be case.

One of the best management of Turkish football team that it has managed to keep players and technical staff outside of all issues happening out games and training facilities and it is likely to be case for this game too. Turkish players would need to come out to Holland with high focus and concentration and all this talks which take place of Demiral issue would do harm to national team so letting players focussed to game would be smartest tactics.

Turkey is having least tensional tournament regarding of rumours and criticism coming from outside and this has direct outcome to results of the team without doubt.

Turkey is having positive energy right now

This is especially crucial when looking that team is being at good mood and strong belief that it can carry on successful at this tournament.

As was seen at World Cup 1998 and Euro 2008, reasons why Turkey improves at knockout stages is that it shows sign of strong belief and motivation which does come out from side being emotional. As been mentioned lots of times over years in our blog, Turkey is being very emotional side and this goes into advantage if things going well and vice versa. Right now, Turkey has got an important confidence and motivational boost from getting to knockout which even rose more after beating Austria.

Now its crucial for side to use this positive energy with effective passionate game agaisnt Holland to get to semi-final stage
