Turkey has shown incredible fighting and organised spirit against Austria.
Turkish National Team has reached to quarter-final of the Euro 2024 after beating Austria with 2:1 scoreline as it has shown its best game since start of the tournament and has once again shown that it becomes entirely different side at knockout stages.
Turkey has send an image from start of the game as it shown strong attacking game and has found its first goal with Merih Demiral from corner who meanwhile did only play due of Samet Akaydin getting yellow cards fine due of previous game. It needs to be stated that defence which has been rightfully criticised during whole tournament did provide its best game as it has been stayed organised and such an attack back-to-back from Austria during 2nd half especially after 2:1 does show how organised its been. It also needs to be mentioned that it is being unclear who would be hero of the game: Merih Demiral or Mert Gunok as Besiktas goalkeeper has made most important save in his career and to older generation reminded of Gordon Banks.
Turkey did want to win game without doubt and it has shown that with tactically and mentally at the game as it will find against Holland where to some it might be even be favourite.
Austria couldnt overpass Turkey defence and Mert Gunok.
It would be need to mention that Austria has actually tried to play game which made them favourite at the tournament but such organising and fighting performance of Turkey did prevent them.
Without doubt, conceding on 1st minute has also affected to Austria as it did actually looked bit shocked in the start of the game. In fact, it also needs to be mentioned that there were signs of panic performance towards end of the game which could be understood as it needed to find goal to get at least to knockout stages. Austria didnt manage to get control of the game at 1st half which did go in hand but it needs to be mentioned that most important goal has been 2nd goal of Merih Demiral as it reduced chances for comeback.
Austria did show good performance in 2nd half but Mert Gunok and Turkey defence has been too good for them.

UEFA has started investigation towards Merih Demiral due of celebration of goal against Austria as he did show sign of ultra-nationalist group Grey Wolves which is being banned at many EU countries, including Austria
There is being argument among being sign of that group it also been used widely in Turkish society but it needs to be mentioned that there are reports that Demiral did show sign towards Austria fans which could be due of his reaction to Austrian fans who did sign of racism towards Turkish supporters and also players which would be taken into consideration at UEFA. Regardless what were reasons of Demiral making that sign, it is clear that he was aware of what circumstances this could bring. Stating that, it would not be expected that it would be high punishment, as player might recieve significant fine among TFF but it would not go as far as game ban.
There has been some incidents of nationalistic matters to which UEFA has responded in this tournament, and hence it would be crucial for all 8 teams including Turkey to be more precautions of their actions in future.
