What happened in Turkish football today? 13/01/2023

Galatasaray continues its winning streak, this time confidently winning Hatayspor

Galatasaray continues its winning streak at the Super League as it has won Hatayspor with 4:0 scoreline thanks to the 2 goals from Juan Mata and also getting win for 2nd week with dominating game.

With all respect to Hatayspor, but when taking into account of how much confidence and motivation side was coming out to the game following confident win against Fenerbahce on previous week, this result should not be seen as big surprise. It needs to be stated that Galatasaray did control of the game from first whistle of the game with providing an attacking game which led for early goal from Kerem Akturkoglu which made team task much easier. Without doubt, turning point of whole game has been also 2 goals which been scored by Juan Mata at additional time of the 1st half as he found them in between of 2 minutes. With entering to half-time with such score it has made task of Galatasaray into much easier which led side to provide economical game with focus to prevent Hatayspor. It needs to be mentioned that Bafetembi Gomis reminded to everyone that he is being subersub as he found a goal after coming out to the field. With taking account that Galatasaray also showed very good defensive game and prevented Hatayspor to give even any signs that opponent could get into the game.

Hatayspor on their part wasnt being able to get into the game and allowed Galatasaray to dominate game without showing much response both in defence and attack. To some extend with conceding an early goal has led side to lose confidence as game progressed among not win game since World Cup 2022. It does look like Hatayspor is being side which been demoralised.

Galatasaray hence continues dominating games in this recent weeks and are being at highest confidence and morale it can get among players showing top performances. It does look like opponents would have trouble to get even draw in upcoming weeks.

Besiktas will have some crucial changes at the front.

Besiktas will be resuming its race for leadership at the Super League with game against Konyaspor after Wout Weghorst has left to Manchester United in unexpected moment as player recieved offer he cant refuse.

Whole week at Besiktas has been spend with an aim to solve Weghorst situation for its own advantage and also finding his replacement, but one thing is certain that it would be coming out the game with one less quality an attacker as Cenk Tosun is being more or less option at the front and very likely club head coach Senol Gunes tactically game has been focussed into that area. Therefore, there is would be expected to be some transformation at tactical game at Besiktas for first time during this season which could mean that many players especially at front would have new roles. This could be an advantage for Konyaspor as opponent would be playing at unusual tactical game for them.

Besiktas would be coming out as favourite but it would be tough game both due of opponent and also some changes which team has went through at the field.

Trabzonspor does have home advantage against Basaksehirspor

Trabzonspor will be coming out to the game at pretty low morale and poor results against an opponent which is being rightly now one of the main contenders for top spot at the league and would be seen as underdogs.

Positive note for Trabzonspor is being that they are playing at home where they didnt lose at home during this season and has get some additional motivation and confidence which does  come from supporters pushing team forward. It needs to be mentioned that even through didnt lose game since World Cup 2022, it still not providing performance which we had seen from them at the start of the season and despite Basaksehirspor does look to be favourite ones, it is being beatable team if Trabzonspor would be concentrated to the game and would provide fast tempo game which we seen at team on previous season.

Trabzonspor woild be seeing this game as turning point from last week loss to Alanyaspor with 5:0 scoreline and regain some confidence as it gets further from top spot race.
