What happened in Turkish football today? 19/06/2021

Turkey would need to give full focus to Switzealand game to get some chance for knockout.

Turkish National Team chances for getting into knockout stages is being to some extend low due of having negative goal difference of -5 but still to get some opportunities for having that opportunity it would need to win Switzealand at least to have any opportunities.

Without doubt Turkey has been one of the most dissapointed teams in this tournament and possibly with Russia are being both sides which didnt perform according to their capacity, even through even Russia has chance to get to next stage. It does have opportunity to turn this around with getting confident win against Switzealand which also would come out for win to get into next stage for getting their chances for knockout or at least to have decent ending of the tournament and provide bit of proudness to its supporters after such poor performance in previous 2 games. Therefore, whatever circumstances are Turkey needs to be showing full focus to the game with providing strong attacking game with looking for opportunities, using them and converting them to get last game in the group stage at high note.

It could be difficult for Turkish players to provide full focus as it is unclear if win even could be enough but it needed to do so to get to next stage if chance would rise.

Win is enough for Switzealand to get into knockout stage.

As been noted above, Switzealand opportunities to get to knockout stage in case of winning of Turkey is very likely to be certain as draw would not be enough and hence Switzealand psychologically could be in bit better condition.

With possibility of securing knockout stage just with win could provide higher focus to Switzealand which could affect directly into how both sides would be performing with Switzealand likely to be looking for goal and then provide strong defensive game hence it would be important for Turkey not to concede first or get behind in any time as it would be difficult for them to turn around game as it have issues with getting over closed defence as been case against Wales and hence side would need to do best for preventing Switzealand to concede goal so it could control game even more. Switzealand might be psychological better condition then Turkey prior to game but it would be job for side not to let this affect game.

Switzealand would come out with knowing win would be enough for next stage and it is important for Turkey to prevent them finding position.

Cuneyt Cakir will referee Ukraine-Austria game

Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir has been appointed to Euro 2020 Group C 3rd week game against Ukraine and Austria, at the game which could have direct impact for Turkey chances for top 4 spot at 3rd spot sides.

With both Austria and Ukraine having 3 points, this game does play crucial role as it would be deciding which side would be getting top 2 spot hence direct ticket to knockout stages while which one would be ending at 3rd spot and look at condition of other groups even through as long as losing side will not lose with big difference it could be able to clinch that position when looking at current condition. Therefore, even through this will not be seen as one of the most important games for last week games in group stage, it is being crucial game which does show sign that UEFA did found performance of Cakir during previous game as satisfactorily.

With hope that Cuneyt Cakir would be showing good performance, it would be great to see him refereeing game towards end of the tournament.
