What happened in Turkish football today? 09/06/2021

Italy are being favourites for this group.

With 2 days left until Euro2020, our blog would provide some preview of its main opponents with looking chances of Turkey against those specific opponents with starting without doubt favourites to end group at the top spot: Italy.

It needs to be mentioned that even through Italy did fail to get impressive results in recent years, it does have pretty strong squad and did get very good results in qualifiers and friendlies which by many leads them to be seen as not only ending group in the top spot but also being one of the candidates to win Euro2020. When looking in Turkey game, when looking neutrally, it is expected for Turkey to provided some pressure to them but still Italy should be getting win on the end of the day. Turkey however does still have chance to get surprising result when seeing that statistics of tournament openners which took place.

Italy hence are favourites in this group and to some extend side which would beat them would get advantage in the group.

Switzealand could provide some tough times to its opponents.

When looking on paper Switzealand does look to be side against which Turkey would be fighting for 2nd spot but to some extend Turkey does look to be stronger side compare to Swiss.

Switzealand without doubt is being quality side with high number of players playing at top leagues like Turkey, but once again when looking individually Turkey does look to be in good form when they being at form. Switzealand is among sides which would come to tournaments without any expectations to get as far as to semi-final but again being pretty strong and competitive side could be providing some difficult time for all clubs in the tournament. Turkey without doubt would need to show strong performance against them if they want to get good result in the end of the day. Hence, this would be key opponent to side without doubt.

Switzealand could be difficult opponent and game against them could be most important one for Turkey.

Wales are being underdogs but it would give difficult time to opponents.

Even through Wales did provide memorable performance during Euro 2016 and does have to some extend to repeat this performance in this tournament it needs to be mentioned its not side with same level which it was 5 years ago.

With Wales to some extend looking to be weakest link in this group does show how tough is this group, as it would not be easy at all for Turkey and other side to beat them but when looking at guality of side its not being currently strongest one with Garry Bale being strongest player. Without doubt its aim would be fighting for 2nd spot or at worst getting among best of 3rd spots. Even through its difficult to quess how Turkey would be ending, it would be reasonable to expect them to end group at higher spot then Wales, with all respects to them. Wales still does have advantage of playing with most players at Premier League which is being one of best leagues at world.

Going through this group it is visible that Turkey would be at difficult group but there is high expectations for them to get to knockout stage possibly even at top spot.
