What happened in Turkish football today? 08/04/2020

Covid-19 would not be dissapeared soon.

One of the ongoing questions right now in Turkey and whole world regarding of football community is about if league would be resumed in upcoming 2 months with some countries putting kick-off dates as early as May.

There is being long-term conversation regarding that right now we are at peak of Covid19 but there is no actual proof that this is case with only referring to this data being statistical and due of some effect in my view their is no specific information if their is even peak apart of whole population getting infected (since it cant overpass it), god forbid such scenario. Another way is for whole population to sit at home, and exclusing people who still go out for fun, their would be people who need to go out and hence this scenario is also not case. In fact, in Turkey people have stayed at home for around 3 weeks officially but we still seeing raise of number of cases and even through rate of death is not high in level of panic, it is being stable. With this taking account it does look like this would take place at least for 2 months. Right now, some people still believe league would start while others dont see how it would be resumed this year.

Once again, wanting to end season and needing to end is two different things with virus still controlling everything in society for sure.

Games without fans will reduce level of games.

One of the options to end this season, is to play games without supporters with an argument, even through its not been primary reason, for fans to provide joy for watching football. It is clear that main reason for this is money, with some people aiming to provide human factor behind it.

It needs to be noted that Super League 26th week, before season has been postponed, games has been played without supporters and with this league in all fairness not being high quality, playing without fans made games more boring. Not sure how it was to other viewers, but with me viewing due of personal interest and running this project, made me more distracted about game and thinking about condition of Covid 19 rather then other way round. Therefore, ending this season without supporters, even through could be among strong options if virus allows it of course, would provide boring football for what could be exciting ending. In fact, playing without supporters would mean crises is still continuing, and hence would provide some natural worrying thoughts towards players during games.

It is clear why UEFA and TFF will support idea to end without supporters but it would not provide high level game and be distractor from Covid 19 to viewers.

Discussion of reduction of salary are continuing at clubs.

One of the main discussion at world footballing world and in Turkey is being reduction of salaries due of this situation with some clubs being on negotiation stage.

Until now, what seems to be issue is not more about if salaries would be reduced but amount of percentage it would be reduced. With some clubs players for instance looked warm for 40% reduction rather then 60%. Another aspect is previous unpaid salaries, which includes rumour that Besiktas foreign players dont mind about reduction but from future dates, with unpaid salaries to be coming in same amount which in fairness does sound reasonable as that time payments didnt been affected by virus. Galatasaray players meanwhile are willing for reduction with possible discussion being focussed into amount.

It does look like Turkey would solve this issue but not very soon though in short period of time.
