What happened in Turkish football today? 02/04/2020

Besiktas players dont want for their salaries to be reduced.

There has been rumour in the Turkish sports media today that Besiktas players didnt accept reduction of salary of 50% which been suggested from club administration which to some extend didnt provide good example of their action in such difficult period.

This blog as been remembered did tend take to sides of players when coming to contract between sides and would be doing so when it has seen to be case, but, still assuming rumour is true, this action from Besiktas is not acceptable when taking account what kind of critical condition in all spheres world is going through and it would be expected that players which are being connected to clubs should show some support from their part. It needs to be noted that players from Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid has agreed for 50-70% reduction of salaries, which due of high amount naturally leads for huge loss didnt raise much issues from what known. In period, when everyone would need to go through some losses which needs to be done this development is not being seen too present without doubt.

We would be hoping that this rumour source is been given wrongly or been made up to sell papers, because this actions  right now is not acceptable.

Players continue to donate for Covid 19 fight.

Turkish footballers continue to provide their own donations to provide their share for fighting against Covid 19 such as providing support to health workers and people living in difficult conditions.

Following Turkish government announcement of National Sovereignty Campaign number of clubs around country start providing some part with their donations and during this day we have heard of first donations to campaign from players as Trabzonspor player Abdurrahim Bayrak has provided 50% donation from his salary while Ugurcan Cakir has given 20%. Galatasaray player Radamel Falcao has announced that he would be providing medical equipment to Izmir hospital which is currently working against Covid 19. As been noted this donations are good examples during this period and hopefully some more would be continued to be given in upcoming period.

Players which are been great example especially in Turkey need to provide more donations to speed up fighting against Covid 19 and also show positive image.

Will Turkey conclude season as did Belgium?

With Belgian league been completed due of Covid 19, being 1st league in Europe to do so, and announcing Club Brugge as champions of league, there has been question if similar decision would be made in other countries around world including Turkey.

As been several times, for now its unclear when Covid 19 would be ending and hence its unclear if leagues around Europe would be competed in this season, as their are rising talks to postpone Belarussian league also, being only league in Europe which continues right now. It needs to be noted that in Belgium, Club Brugge did have 15 points advantage so it was bit easier to make this decision even through economically it would provide issues to them, so it wasnt that simple to make this decision as it looks. Turkey due of strong title race, which been main focus of our account before Covid19, does provide issues if this league is healthy to end with announcing current leaders Trabzonspor as champions. As been noted, this is being uncertain times and federations are going through difficult process for rest of season.

As been noted on previous post, right now wanting to end season of some clubs is not decider as virus makes all decisions right now at communities.
