What happened in Turkish football today? 31.05.2017

Konyaspor wins 2016-17 Turkish Cup after long-night final.

Turkish Cup final between Basaksehirspor and Konyaspor has been sadly been remembered by the actions from both sides fans with throwing flames and other items to each other. The game sadly has been dull but still Konyaspor needs to get praised as it has won with very tactical performances by the head coach Aykut Kocaman.

Konyaspor main aim was to keep tempo at the game low as the fast game would be more suitable for their opponents. This style of game has led for game to be going at the dull manner without any much chances from both sides during 120 minutes of the game. The focus of the Konyaspor has been to stop Basaksehirspor to go forward and their open game could not be much to prevent that has allowed them to get win. It could be stated that this shows that Konyaspor has respected their opponent too much, but this has brought them Turkish Cup title also. Coming to the viewers perspective it needs to be stated that it was not much exciting game to watch. Konyaspor has qualified once again to the Europa League directly to the group stage with winning today's game and now need to improve from last season performance.

Basaksehirspor meanwhile could not provide a great game today with being too far away from its performance which it been praised during this season. Besiktas winning their title on 28th May could also affected negatively to the side and hence led them to lose game due of lack of the motivation. This loss of Basaksehirspor has also not being good news for Antalyaspor who gave their best for 5th place hoping that their might get extra ticket if Istanbul side wins the game. Despite of today's game, Basaksehirspor still has a great season and surely would work to become even better team for next season during summer transfer window  aiming to get good results at least at Champions League qualifers and later at Europa League.

Konyaspor has won Turkish Cup at the end of the day in the manner which their certainly has deserved and has marked history to win it 1st time in their history.

Villarreal has transferred  Enes Unal for 14 million euro.

Following today's transfer negotiations with Manchester City player Enes Unal has transferred him for 14 million euro and is expected to announce it officially in upcoming days. This transfer would be new chapter for Turkish star player.

Enes Unal had experienced a very good season in Holland becoming best player of the season in the view of the Twente fans and also among best players during whole Eredevisie 2016-17 season. There its unsurprising that following such a great performance number of teams around Europe, including Spanish side are showing strong interest for him. It needs to be remembered that Manchester City has transferred Enes Unal from Bursaspor last season as future project and hence is giving him to the transfer to Villarreal. Going to the La Liga side and pretty successful club would be made another important step for Enes Unal career and help him to develop towards better player.

It is known that Enes Unal was interested to move to Spain for next season and joining Villarreal is very good one for him and would certainly help him to develop and possibly become regular player.

Yeni Malatyaspor does not extend contract with its coach Irfan Buz.

Even through it would not sound very reasonably, but Yeni Malatyaspor has joined to the team which end contract which its head coach when it has been promoted from 1st league into Super League, as administration decided not to extend contract with Irfan Buz.

Surely, playing at the Super League its not exactly as same as competing at the 1st league as Adanaspor would make it clear during this season and hence needs to go to the several revisions before start of the new season and end of summer transfer window. But the main reason for this club to be at the top division at the country should be thanked mainly to the head coach and hence not using extension with Irfan Buz is not understandable here. Stating that, this does happen occassionally at football and could be seen as help to develop in football sense and sometimes it does help team to develop. For instance, Karabukspor has also changed coach in last Summer and has provided great entry to the Super League in start of this season.

Still, showing gratefulness for this great achievement to the coach by ending contract is not too ethical. At least see what he would do at summer transfer window and how would start new season to realise what he is capable at the Super League.
