What happened in Turkish football today? 17.02.2016

Besiktas has got important win at foggy conditions.

Besiktas has got an important win against Mersin IdmanYurdu in the 18th week postponed game which has almost been postponed once again following heavy fog taking place at the Istanbul today.
Besiktas has won with superb free-kick done by Jose Sosa in the game which has started half an hour later then planned.

Apart of putting game into question due of fog, it had also provided difficult time for both teams to be able to control ball, provided lack of vision and hardness to follow game for fans both in the stadium and on TV. The fog has surely affected to the quality of the game and could be stated that with this fog the game was actually played pretty well. Besiktas was playing its usual attacking football during first half of the 40 minutes creating the chances but have difficulty at converting them. It needs to say that Mersin IdmanYurdu in fact provided great defence during whole game and only superb free-kick goal by Jose Sosa has brought an important win to Besiktas at the end of the game.

Besiktas has got very important win taking account that it had lack of defensive players during the game as newly-signed players who were signed in January window were not legitimate to play today and taking account that Ersan Gulum was sold to Hebei China Fortuna it had provided difficult task for club especially. Besiktas still carries on its title race with a leadership and is currently will be playing to the weekend with high morale and motivation.

Meanwhile, Mersin IdmanYurdu has provided another great football performance at the game today assuming into its possible strength and its fight to get out from relegation zone. Only conceding 1 goal from today's game shows that it currently aims to get out of the zone and is likely to improve in upcoming weeks and possibly become hard to team to beat for rest of the clubs.

Fenerbahce played its best football this season.

Fenerbahce has played its best game since arrival of Vitor Pereira to the club as it had won
Lokomotiv Moscow with 2:0 scoreline at the Europa League last 32 1st leg game in Istanbul. The game has been mainly dominated by great football by Fenerbahce and also Lokomotiv Moscow player Dmitri Tarasov Vladimir Putin t-shirt he shown after end of the game.

Fenerbahce has played the football which it needs to play at the Europa League if it wants to win the tournament at the May and if it carries on doing that club will surely get really far at this year competition. Since being appointed to the post, Vitor Pereira had stated several times that he is aim is to make an attacking team who would control ball and will not allow opponents to get into positions. This was seen and provided at its best at the game yesterday as Fenerbahce goalkeeper Fabiano had one of the easiest games since arriving to a club.

Fenerbahce will now look forward for this weekend game against Bursaspor and also for 2nd leg game next week in cold Moscow. It is crucial for club to win against Bursaspor to carry on this high motivation and morale for next week against Lokomotiv.

Galatasaray unstable performance will affect in game against Lazio.

As been mentioned several times, Galatasaray is currently would be focussing into two tournaments which is Europa League and Turkish Cup, and even through latter seems to go as planned, Europa League could be very tough for them.

To be successful in Europe, team needs to have good periods and motivation and when things are not going well at domestic front, it could provide issues in Europe due of continuity issue. It is been stated that Europa League is different stage, but Turkish teams who are not exactly at dominating European levels each year could have tough time against strong opponent like Lazio. Galatasaray therefore needs to play its best high-quality football which it didnt show for long time if it wants to win and if it does achieve that than maybe it can achieve something at Europa League.

Coming to Lazio, which is aware of issues which club at might provide an attacking football and try to get into  lead as early as possible tomorrow. It is hard to call any of those teams as  favourite, but poor performance lately by Galatasaray would affect team performance tomorrow.
