What happened in Turkish football today? 10.02.2016
Marcelo red card has led victory to Konyaspor.
Konyaspor has managed to win Besiktas with 2:1 scoreline at the Turkish Cup quarter-final 1st leg game in Istanbul while losing with 1:0 scoreline. Konyaspor has shown great character after conceding goal and to some extend used nervous Denis Boyko who was standing as the goalkeeper during today's game.
It was mentioned that Besiktas could focus more into Super League and hence provide chance for surprise win for Konyaspor and to some extend this has taken place. Saying that, its not like Besiktas didnt play good and attacking football during the game as it had found number of attacks before scoring the goal and after the goal. In fact, the players were focussing into the attack prior to red card of Marcelo given by its players however Konyaspor who wanted to win game even more has reacted in right manner after red card and found 2 goals in duration of 15 minutes and has shown that it wants to get into semi-final more than Besiktas with its agressive football.
Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes had used this game as an opportunity to check Denis Boyko who has made number of saves however has conceded 2 goals which costed a win for a team. This would probably would feel Tolga Zengin more confident regarding his spot as 1st goalkeeper but of course this being first game of Denis Boyko does not mean he will not improve and prove himself to be number one goalkeeper to a team. Meanwhile, at the 2nd leg one away goal could be enough for Besiktas to bring them to next stage.
Konyaspor meanwhile has managed difficult task at winning Besiktas at away game and would look forward for 2nd leg in more positive manner and hoping good support from its fans at Konya who surely would come with this scoreline at today's game.
Two different Galatasaray at Turkish Cup and Super League.
Game between Akhisar Belediyespor was among both teams who are known to be aiming for Turkish Cup title at the end of the season and the way game was played has shown that as the game has finished with 2:1 scoreline with both teams showing attacking football especially at 2nd half.
With Super League chances as been mentioned numerous times are over for Galatasaray and the both teams fighting for European spot at the table, it is also known Turkish Cup is actually easiest way to get those spots. With both teams aware of that, their had nice football to get a win. Despite of poor conditioned football field whose condition is not great and in addition Manisa stadium being hosting 4 games in 5 days has surely made both teams, especially Galatasaray, not controlling the game very well. In other side, positive thing of the game was for goal coming from Selcuk Inan, who is celebrating his birthday today. It was surely a game where both teams showed attacking football. This performance by both teams has shown that right now Turkish Cup is really had started with high quality games with both sides trying its best.
Galatasaray surely has reacted in totally different manner while losing game with 1:0 scoreline as it had responded with 2 goals and mast-paced attacking football which surely proves that team motivation and focus is totally different between Turkish Cup and Super League and hence showing that priorities has changed for sure for a team.
Coming to Akhisar Belediyespor, it still got an important goal by Hugo Rodallega as 1:0 scoreline in Istanbul could be enough for them to get to semi-final. Akhisar Belediyespor still has realistic even through difficult chance.
Amed Sportif almost brought Cup surprise in game against Fenerbahce.
Yesterday's Turkish Cup quarter-final 1st leg game between Amed Sportif and Fenerbahce was following classical storyline of the cup fixture as 2nd tier has almost won big "4" team and would provide surprsing result, even through at the end of the day it was a surprising result.
As been mentioned yesterday, Amed Sportif has shown braveness at the game tomorrow as it was playing an attacking football finding 3 quality goals even through conceding same amount goals against them. Fenerbahce meanwhile had trouble at controlling ball due of the condition of the field however it will be unfair to say that it didnt play good football. Even through chances are at 2nd leg seems for now to be vain for Amed, it still got mark and Fenerbahce as team after game had stated that Amed Sportif is a good team and as a team will likely to improve . As said yesterday, whatever happens at return game Amed made it mark to the Turkish Cup this year.
Of course, the way how Fenerbahce would react to the 2nd leg of the game is actually connected to result of Europa League game Lokomotiv Moscow. If Fenerbahce does get to last 16 stage, then it might put Turkish Cup below priority list and hence provide some chances to Amed Sportif to mark history and get to semi-final. The following scoreline still provides chance to Amed Sportif to make that surprise.

Turkish Cup, quarter-final, 1st leg
Akhisar Belediyespor 1:2 Galatasaray
Besiktas 1:2 Konyaspor
