What happened in Turkish football today? 09.02.2016

Amed Sportif shown to everyone that its not afraid of Fenerbahce.

As been mentioned at the blog yesterday, Turkish Cup quarter-final 1st leg game between Amed Sportif and Fenerbahce was among the most awaiting games at this midweek period and the game itself has returned all its expectation as we had recieved great duel between two teams which had ended with 3:3 scoreline.

The game has started with the meaningful protest by Amed Sportif during where players didnt move for first 25 seconds of the game while Fenerbahce were passing ball at its own half. The following protest was given as a response to no supporters ban by TFF. However, after that protest the game had started as normal and was played at fast pace. Taking account that the field was at very poor condition and it was specifically hard to control game and also no supporters we had seen 6 goals at the game. Prior to the game Amed Sportif did state that it will take game seriously and will not hold back and their did so as the game progressed. In fact, in one point after score 2:1 Amed Sportif did play a bit defensively giving signs that game could end like that but as soon scoreline turned to 2:2 , Amed Sportif got believe and in duration of 15 minutes we saw 3 more goals. This was great game despite of all issues surrounding the game.

Fenerbahce to some extend didnt play its best football as it had trouble controlling ball due of very poor conditioned field, which to some extend could be understandable with a conflict area team which plays at 2nd league. Despite of that Fenerbahce had some periods where it had played game pretty good.

Meanwhile, Amed Sportif, lowest team in league system left at the Turkish Cup continues its loseless streak and has shown with its players that its not scared of Fenerbahce. 2nd leg in Istanbul would be much difficult task but for now Amed Sportif made its mark at this year tournament.

Battle between both clubs which aim to win Turkish Cup this year will take place tomorrow.

Galatasaray would meet against Akhisar Belediyespor at the Turkish Cup 1st leg quarter-final game, as it had arleady played against them in the Super League and twice at the Turkish Cup group stage. As been mentioned several times at our blog, Galatasaray main focus for this season is Turkish cup after losing chances at the league.

However, it is hard to predict this fixture as it is known that Akhisar Belediyespor has also set its eye into Turkish Cup glory this season. Galatasaray main issue is current lack of attackers due of injuries and Burak Yilmaz going to China. Without strong attack playing game against good defensive side could provide big issues for the team tomorrow. It is expected however that Galatasaray will provide attacking football as it is pretty serious to get the Turkish Cup this season.

However, as been mentioned above Akhisar Belediyespor wants to win the Cup also and it needs to play attacking and brave football as it did several times during this season against big "4" teams. As long as team believes, it has potential to get surprise win tomorrow and get result for looking forward for 2nd leg.

Besiktas has chance to check its alternative defence in game against Konyaspor.

With the Besiktas setting its main focus at winning Super League this season it is questionable how it would respond to the game against Konyaspor at Turkish Cup 1st leg quarter-final game with also lacking defender right now.

With Luiz Rhodolfo being injured for 6 months and selling of Ersan Gulum the club main problem right now is defence and it will aim to find solution at the game tomorrow possibly with the help of Atiba Hutchinson who has marked his space this season at the team. Besiktas, especially with winning 4:0 back in December against Konyaspor, looks to be strong favourite however the focus given to the Turkish Cup seems to be not same as in Super League for  a club and hence Konyaspor might have equal chances at the game. But of course, with quarter-finals coming Besiktas could change its priority as it gave good performance against Boluspor at last 16 stage.

Meanwhile, Konyaspor should find ways to use advantage of defence issue at the game tomorrow while not forgetting about its own defence if it wants to get surprise result at 1st leg game.
