What happened in Turkish football today? 20/06/2023

Turkey got an important advantage for Euro 2024.

Turkey has got an important advantage at the race for Euro 2024 final competition as it got 5 point difference from Wales at its fight for 2nd spot with getting confident 2:0 win with also 2 goals being disallowed and Hakan Calhanoglu not converting penalty.

It needs to be stated that red card during 1st half did have a direct role into final outcome as it allowed Turkey to show much strong attacking game but it should be noted that prior to that red card Turkey has been better side with higher possession and with creating chances. It also been important for Turkey to stay focussed despite of disallowed goals and penalties which showed that mentally team did come out in good form and were focussed to get an important win as supporters did push fans. Both Umut Nayir and Arda Guler did score 2 goals which did bring team a win and its been especially important for debut goals for both players to be scored in such style. For sure, clubs around Europe would show much demand for Arda Guler for rest of summer.

Hence, Turkey did get 6 important points in those 2 games and are being in much better condition to get Euro 2024 ticket.

Bodrumspor uses transfer option of Gokdeniz Bayraktar.

Bodrumspor has used 1,250,000 euro transfer fee of Antalyaspor player Gokdeniz Bayraktar as player has been loaned to the team in previous season and has also included 50% share from next transfer.

Bayraktar it needs to be mentioned did show strong and confident performance and has played an important role after being loaned during mid-season transfer window for side to become close to the promotion to Super League but have used play-off final game to Pendikspor. With Antalyaspor also not having much plans at own club, it has been naturally for sides to agree for transfer option of loan deal to go into action and Bayraktar could help side to fight once again for promotion in upcoming season.

Hence, this move without doubt has been an important one for both parties and Bayraktar could play an important role at Bodrumspor in upcoming season.

Volkan Demirel priority is to stay at Hatayspor

With Fenerbahce putting into priority of new head of either being Hatayspor head coach Volkan Demirel and Ismail Kartal, former one has made statement that his priority will be staying at Hatayspor next season.

Following financial general meeting statement that club would appoint Turkish referee, negotiations with Volkan Demirel and Ismail Kartal has been continued as both names are familiar with Super League with Volkan Demirel only being coaching for few years and does lack experience. In addition, following devastating earthquake which has also impacted Hatayspor, Demiral has made strong connection with club and hence it would been expected that he would not be leaving club easily. 

So, it does look like Ismail Kartal would be main priority right now as we would follow all developments in this matter
