Ismail Kartal has been appointed as Fenerbahce head coach for 1-season.

Fenerbahce has appointed Ismail Kartal as club's head coach for 1-season as he did end before previous season in this spot with showing some good result and has made his legendary name in the team both as player and coach.

Even through some supporters of the team might see Ismail Kartal appointment as too simple and not in level which team is being seeking for, it is known that he did have lots of successes at the Fenerbahce for long period of time both as player and coach which includes winning title with team as coach. Turkey will play against Japan on 12th September.

Turkish National Team would be playing friendly game against Japan in Belgium on 12th September as it wouldnt play its own game at Euro2024 qualifiers as it would get an opportunity to play game against strong who did show as remembered memorable performance in World Cup 2022.

Hatayspor has signed Onur Ari for 4-years.

Hatayspor has signed Onur Ari for 4-years as it continues providing some effective transfers for upcoming season aiming to show strong comeback to football games after being affected from devastating earthquake. 

With Onur Ari providing some impressive performance on previous season at Eskisehirspor at an attacking and have an advantage of being tall player with being 1.92 m. As been noted on previous blogs, Hatayspor following losing some players during early days of the summer and possibly having some issues at convincing foreign players, has been focussed as could be seen towards Turkish young players with high potential and without doubt Onur Ari is being player who can fulfill this level of performance with working Volkan Demirel who does have good communication with players as could be seen during earthquake period.

Hatayspor signs Gorkem Saglam.

Hatayspor has signed Gorkem Saglam for 3-years as he has played at Super League on previous season and has been an important transfer for the side who aims to bounce back after devastating earthquake.

Hatayspor so far has been one of the most active sides at the transfer front signing 2 players in 2 days of summer transfer window as Gorkem Saglam is being player who has provide needed performance at the midfielding area and hence provide an important bridge as he did show at Giresunspor where he did show some good performance despite of side being relegated. Basaksehirspor has extended contract with its player Sener Ozbayrakli for 1-year after his contract has been over for some years as player has been providing an effective performance during his previous seasons at club.

One of the main players who has shown good performance of the team in recent seasons and also effective start of previous seasons without doubt has been Sener Ozbayrakli and with good experience and still effective game in the midfielding area, it should be quite understood that with being used to the team and also difficulty of finding new club could be pretty good option for him in upcoming season. Hence, this would be an opportunity for this tandem to be continue in next season where he is likely to end his career.

Galatasaray considers to terminate contract with Christian Luyindama 

Galatasaray are considering to terminate contract with its player Christian Luyindama who is currently is loaned to Antalyaspor as there is no plans to use him by Okan Buruk in upcoming season.

It needs to be mentioned that Luyindama did have some good periods at Galatasaray during his stay and did play an important role in some of the wins, but when looking in general and especially in last years before loaned he did provide performance which has been useful to the team so for him to stay at the club for another season according to contract would mean that team would look for another club for him to be loaned. Hence, termination to some extend would been also good development for him as he would be start looking for side where he could stay for longer period.

Hence, it would be expected for termination deal between sides to be beneficial for both sides and aggreement to be made soon.

Lucas Torreira will have negotiations with Lazio.

Galatasaray player Lucas Torreira agent has stated that he would have transfer negotiations with Lazio as there is request even through Galatasaray doesnt consider to sell him.

With taking account of closeness of Lucas Torreira with Italian clubs and also opportunity to join top 5 club would mean that Torreira would be keeping a door open for his return there as Lazio are showing interest towards him. Antalyaspor administrators has resigned from their position.

Antalyaspor has went through some crucial changes at administrative team as 5 of the administrators has officially resigned from their post and been replaced by other 5 names which does show that some people who are involved at the team are unhappy into development of the team.

As it is known, Antalyaspor didnt have very good previous season especially during 2nd half and to some extend has been able to stay at the Super League thanks to the points gathered in early period. With this taking place and including financial issues which all clubs are going through, it could be seen normal that some administrators within club are showing disagreememnt how club is run. This hence has led for resignation from administrators like Kerem Cankaya, Emrah Celik, Sami Gural, Ferit Sezar and Mustafa Ergun while their been replaced with Abidel Gurel, Gokhan Kestiroglu, Varol Varil and Mehmet Duru. 

It needs also to be mentioned that there are expected for other names to be replaced in upcoming period as we would follow all developments at club.

Trabzonspor are close to make deal with Bruno Petkovic.

It is reported that Trabzonspor are close to make transfer deal with Dinamo Zagreb player Bruno Petkovic for 3 million euro for 3-years.

It is known that club did make transfer deal with Petkovic before hand and had some difficulties with making deal with Dinamo Zagreb who has requested 4 million euro while Trabzonspor has been offering 3 million euro. Samsunspor has signed Lubomir Satka for 3-years.

Samsunspor has made its first transfer during summer transfer window as it has signed Lech Poznan player Lubomir Satka who is expected to provide significant strength to the side and make it much more competitive for side to be staying at the league.

With taking account that Samsunspor main aim is to be staying at the Super League for upcoming season, it needs to be mentioned that Satka transfer has been very important addition as his defensive performance could be providing an important transfer which would help side to provide strength into defensive area and hence conceded limited amount of goals.  Mehmet Buyukeksi has been reelected for 4-years as TFF CEO.

TFF CEO Mehmet Buyukeksi has been reelected as federations CEO with getting total of 169 out of 191 votes as he has been only 1 candidate as from now on he would be running for 4 years with being able to prove himself for most of delegates in this 1-year period.

As remembered, Mehmet Buyukeksi did become TFF CEO last season as he did meet with lots of issues to be needed solved which included post-Covid period, finances and also foreign players limited with including also broadcasting rights. Even through it could be argued that there are still lots of issues to be needed to be solved, he did pretty good job during 1-year as among mentioned problems, he also came with devastating earthquake which led for Hatayspor and Gaziantep not to compete points and he needed to make decisions into what with those teams points, with making decisions to provide 3:0 losses following games. This did lead to some mixed reaction from different clubs with Besiktas showing full protest.

Mehmet Buyukeksi despite of those problems did show good character and important decision and this detirmened character and dialogue with clubs possibly led for most clubs to support him in this election.

TFF has updated foreign players limit with some exceptions to rule.

During today's general meeting of TFF which been dominated with CEO election, TFF has also made an important decision regarding of foreign players limit as it keep limit of 14 players but has also included one player to be counted as local from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Therefore, this decision to provide green light for countries from Turkic world has been more or less to show brotherhood between nations and also provide opportunity for development of those players even through there are low number of players at Super League from this countries and none at big 4 clubs. There is also been allowed for members of green card not to be counted as foreign player which could led for Yusuf Demir not to count as foreign player and possibly recieve some playing time as Galatasaray did state that player didnt recieve much playing time due of being stucked into this rule.

This decision might provide some maneouvre for clubs at Super League but still it would not be able to sign freely star players as most of those players origins dont enter to this excusions.

It is true that performance against Latvia hasnt been in very good performance level but taking account that Latvia has been providing issues to Turkey historically so sadly for this game to be problematic could be seen as normal outcome. It did provide good performance against Wales with providing pressure even when game has been 11-on-11 and hence this two games does show that pressure provided towards Kuntz could be given bit too much.

Turkey hence did get good advantage during Euro 2024 qualifying games during July and would need to provide similar performance in upcoming games.

Galatasaray will meet rather Zalgiris or Struga at Champions League 2nd qualifying.

Galatasaray has been drawn with winner of 1st qualifying round tie Lithuanian Zalgiris Vilnius and Macedonian Struga at Champions League 2nd qualifying round as Turkish giant is expected not to have strong difficulty with both sides.

Due of dropping at UEFA coefficients in recent years due of poor performance at European competitions has led route to actual tournaments much longer as Galatasaray during this season would need be going through 3 qualifying rounds, which could be even 4 if none qualifier didnt win Champions League tournament. Turkey got an important advantage for Euro 2024.

Turkey has got an important advantage at the race for Euro 2024 final competition as it got 5 point difference from Wales at its fight for 2nd spot with getting confident 2:0 win with also 2 goals being disallowed and Hakan Calhanoglu not converting penalty.

Bodrumspor uses transfer option of Gokdeniz Bayraktar.

Bodrumspor has used 1,250,000 euro transfer fee of Antalyaspor player Gokdeniz Bayraktar as player has been loaned to the team in previous season and has also included 50% share from next transfer.

Due of having limited squad and also not much successes in recent seasons it needs to be mentioned that Pendikspor possibly has been main surprise of season passed as it has ended at 3rd spot and has got ticket to Super League through play-off round even through it only played one game compare to Bodrumspor due of new regulations. There was historical win at Turkish Cup against Fenerbahce during 1998-99 season but apart of that there is not much successes at which Turkish football followers and especially outside of Turkey would be familiar. It needs to be mentioned that Pendikspor still needs to make strong competitive as current team is not ready for this high level and hence it would need to convince lots of Super League quality players with limited financial possibilities.

Pendikspor did write history with getting to the Super League with beating Bodrumspor but now it would need to make strong competitive side.

TFF CEO Mehmet Buyukeksi would be single candidate on 22nd June election

TFF has announced that its CEO Mehmet Buyukeksi would be running as single candidate for TFF CEO election as no other candidate wasnt approved until 15th June.

Despite of recieving lots of criticism for some of the clubs with most notably being Besiktas who has been unhappy with how points has been treated after Hatayspor and Gaziantep didnt complete season due of devastating earthquake it needs to be mentioned that all of the clubs did provide support to Mehmet Buyukeksi. It has been stated earlier on one of our blog entries that Mehmet Buyukeksi did show good performance in the position at short period of time when he did take post after unsuccessful previous administration. Our blog would continue our summary of previous season with sides which been promoted to Super League starting with Samsunspor who are attending after long absences but always been side which did aim for top division.

With Samsun being 2nd biggest city at black sea area, following Trabzon, it also been side which did focus into getting into top division and did provide some memorable and good outcomes back in the 90s and hence it would be focussing to do once again. It needs to be mentioned that side didnt have very good start at lower league but did turn around thing with winning back-to-back and securing its ticket for promotion with 5 leagues left in the season. It needs to be mentioned that Super League is being different level without doubt and team would need to build morecompetitive side but this achievement does show strong potentiality of the team.

Samsunspor would be expected to make team to be able to show strong outcomes and hence would focus to summer transfer window accordingly.

Rizespor would return to Super League stronger.

When Rizespor has been relegated to lower league on 2021-22 season it has been focussed to come back to top division in shortest period as it can and it has managed to do so after 1 season ending at 2nd spot.

Unfortunately, number of teams after being relegated are having serious difficulty to get back on top division after relegation but Rizespor has set an eye and has done everything to come with Bulent Korkmaz with providing top level performance. Showing signs that it was aware of mistakes which has led for them to be relegated, it would also expected to build on that and aim that it wont have same fate on Super League next season. It would very likely to focus into making more competitive side during transfer window without doubt.

Rizespor are returning to Super League as much more experienced side and this would have an impact with upcoming season.

What happened in Turkish football today? 14/06/2023

Adana Demirspor has been one of the side which did show top level game in this league.

Adana Demirspor has ended season at 4th spot with good and positive performance and has got 2nd qualifying round ticket to Conference League thanks to the Fenerbahce but it needs to be stated that side did deserve to compete at Europe.

Among top 3 clubs in the end of the season, Adana Demirspor has been one of the few clubs which did provide top level performance and positive game which made this season to be watchable thanks to the mostly Vincenzo Montella and also its CEO. It needs that quality factor of side about them did affect its ending season at much higher spots even through this side did make lots of issues to them and also got points in some occassions. Making strong but in same time squad which does provide top level performance hence had its positive impact. Another factor, is also being strong fan base which is lacking in this league outside of top leagues.

With Vincenzo Montella leaving side, it would be important for them to find a coach which would have same mentality for side in upcoming season.

Giresunspor had pretty poor all-round season.

Giresunspor is being one of the two relegated sides during this season as it failed to show highly competitive game during whole season and has failed to get into level of Super League during whole season. 

It needs to be mentioned that Giresunspor has been close to relegation zone also during previous seasons but has managed to stay on the league with raising level of performance towards end but this time it didnt manage that. Giresunspor is to some extend is being interesting club, as in general it did failed to show strong performance but did get occasionally some good results against top club including against Fenerbahce this season which to some extend has been start of the side decline in winter. 

Giresunspor would need to figure out things which didnt go right for them and would need to focus to find themselves back to Super League.

Umraniyespor tried to play game which costed them relegation.

Umraniyespor it needs to be mentioned would be remembered by Super League as side which been showing positive game but despite of that has been relegated with 11 points behind safety zone.

Umraniyespor did aim to show strong attacking game with providing an open game which did lead them to find goals and also provide some good viewing to supporters but taking account quality of players in the side, to all respect to that squad, has led them to be relegated as provided more undisliked defensive game would lead them to get more points. Out of 47 goals which been scored by side, 19 of those goals did come from Umut Nayir who did score some memorable goals and has become one of the best players of the season, and that taking account that he is coming from last-place side and has been called to current Turkish National Team squad.

Umraniyespor possibly did play game which was above they capacity but this mentality could play an important role at 2nd league to get back to top division during next season.

What happened in Turkish football today? 13/06/2023

Galatasaray has shown strong character and hard work for this title. 

As 2022-23 football season has been over in the Turkey, it is time to provide summary of the season starting quite naturally with league champions Galatasaray who has won its 23rd title with a style and making big changes from previous failed season.

It needs to be mentioned that it could pretty tough to state that Galatasaray did have very good start of the season as it did lose points and when it did win game it did come from top level performance and its need to be thankful to Bafetembi Gomis. One of the main reasons of this was that players didnt have good time to get adapted to the league and team as they joined later, but as players became adapted especially Lucas Torreira and Mauro Icardi side start showing top level game and started finding win. Without doubt, before and following World Cup 2022 break has been thankful for the team as it was that time when it got 14 game winning streak and even through it did drop in one moments towards end it did provide strong fighting performance towards end and has got well-deserved league title.

Galatasaray league title has become with hard-working and correct transfer politics and it needs to keep its momentum for next season.

Losing opportunity points has been one of reasons Fenerbahce losing title.

Statistically looking it is hard to state that Fenerbahce did have poor season as it did win Turkish Cup and has ended as runners-up but factors such as losing points at crucial points and derby games has led Jorge Jesus side to lose title.

Fenerbahce it needs to be mentioned did have very good start of the season with getting an important wins both in league and also Europa League where it has ended as leaders and also got same point in the Super League with raising point difference with Galatasaray to 9 points in one time, but during that period when Galatasaray had 14 games winning streak, Fenerbahce did lose lots of points which led them not only reduce point difference but opponent to pass. Towards end of the season, Galatasaray did lose some points also but with Fenerbahce losing points in same weeks didnt let them to reduce point difference and hence come out to last week derby game only as formality where it wasnt highly motivated.

Fenerbahce as known did end contract with Jorge Jesus and now would need to find coach which would bring Super League title which it being waiting for long time.

Besiktas has changed entirely when Senol Gunes joined team

Football season for Besiktas could be referred with before and after Senol Gunes or alternatively before and after Valerien Ismael as Ismael didnt manage to get high number of wins while Senol Gunes had one of the best points per game during his reign at league.

This blog doesnt seem right to refer to Valerien Ismael as bad referee as some Turkish media does it, but it is clear that his playing style and tactics hasnt been working well for Besiktas and also league which led them lose lots of point difference. With Senol Gunes joining side, team start showing much more agressive and attacking game on field which led them at one point to have small but still chances for title which did also come from winning both Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Still possible due of lack of concentration and motivation it did lose chance to end season at 2nd spot in last week.

Senol Gunes did show what he could achieve with this team and with some additions to squad we could be seeing side which would fight for title and get good results at Conference League.

Fenerbahce has got pretty easy win at Turkish Cup final.

Fenerbahce has won its first Turkish Cup after 9 years with getting confident win against Basaksehirspor as it also has been last game of Jorge Jesus as head coach of the team.

It needs to be mentioned that Fenerbahce without doubt has got much more easier win than has been anticipated as an early goal from Michy Batshuayi which did come as early as 40 second from start of the game has led for Fenerbahce to control game as it wanted. Without doubt, 2nd goal once again from Batshuayi did make task much easier as opponent has failed to provide strong reaction and even allowed Fenerbahce to not provide high effort for rest of the game. Without doubt, main player of the game has been Arda Guler who has shown once again comfortable performance and played an important role at two goals scored by Batshuayi.

It has been important for Fenerbahce to end season at high note and has been good farewell from Jorge Jesus and also been 1st cup for Ali Koc.

Basaksehirspor provided very poor performance against Fenerbahce.

Basaksehirspor did come in very good form to the game when looking into last games of the Super League but still it was expected for them to show much better game as it has been final game.

Basaksehirspor has failed to provide any reaction to an early conceded goal and it has ended 1st half without single shot regardless on or off-target and with Emre Belozoglu reacting to this with 2 substitutes, this didnt have much effect into team until 2nd half. Basaksehirspor did raise tempo during 2nd half of the game with creating some chances but still wasnt too dangerous as Fenerbahce did show provide good defensive game and relaxation at midfielding area. Without doubt, such passive performance game from his team did lead Emre Belozoglu to be very dissapointed at the end fo the game. 

Basaksehirspor did have difficult season as did Fenerbahce and hence now it would be getting deserved rest and take some lessons from whole season for sure.

Fenerbahce signs Ryan Kent for 4-years.

Fenerbahce has signed Rangers player Ryan Kent for 4-years, making him first transfer not only for themselves during this summer transfer window but 1st transfer at Super League.

With being 1st transfer, he also been one of the first names which has been circulating at Turkish media and it needs to be mentioned that it has been an important signing as Kent is being player which keep looking for opportunities and does convert them pretty well as his stats show at Rangers and played an important role for some good results in recent weeks. Also signing him so early would sort out an adaptation which some English players tend to have in this league.

Hence, Fenerbahce did make first transfer of this summer transfer window and has high potential to show good performance in this club.

Fenerbahce has won Turkish Cup after 10 years after getting confident win against Basaksehirspor

Fenerbahce has won Turkish Cup after beating Basaksehirspor at the final game thanks to 2 goals from Michy Batshuayi as without doubt 1st goal on 1st minute has provided whole character of the game while Basaksehirspor didnt provide much pressure to an opponent.

With losing Super League title to Galatasaray in pretty dramatic manner and letting side to be negatively affected it has been interesting how side would be responding for this game and it did in right manner. It needs to be mentioned that a goal from Michy Batshuayi on 1st minute has provided strong confidence of the side as it let them to get full concentration towards game and did get game into its own control. With Michy Batshuayi did find 2nd goal on 30th minute has provided them to get full of the control and didnt let Basaksehirspor to get into more chances and has provided much more controllable game. Hence, it has been more important for Fenerbahce to provide good defensive game which it has managed to do so while it did looked slightly relaxed in attack.

Coming to Basaksehirspor, it did provide pretty ineffective game for 90 minutes which hasnt been very suitable for side which did get into Turkish Cup final and didnt show much reaction. It needs to be mentioned that Basaksehirspor head coach Emre Belozoglu did became aware of this and did make 3 changes shortly after conceding 2 goals but this didnt affected much into its game play. It could be noted that Basaksehirspor did become closer into Fenerbahce goal and did have some attempts to create chances, but strong defensive game from Fenerbahce players didnt let to get closer into goal and create a very good chances. Therefore, this game has been very dissapointing game for Basaksehirspor which wasnt suitable for side playing for title in competition.

Therefore, Fenerbahce has won its first title after 7 years and also led for Jorge Jesus to end season with title as it has been with mixed performance and reactions towards him. 

Bayram Bektas gets ready to leave Besiktas assistant coach role.

Besiktas assistant coach Bayram Bektas has provided letter of resignation to his club as he would be considering to continue at head coach role as he is reported to be recieving some of the offers.

It needs to be mentioned that even through Bektas doesnt have much experience at Super League at head coach position, he did coach before hand at lower leagues where he didnt get pretty good results when looking into that level and he also got some important experience lessons while working with Senol Gunes at different teams in recent years and hence would feel ready for such position. With some of the Super League clubs looking for head coach position right now, we could see him either in top league or below where he would be transforming this experience into work.

Bayram Bektas has all reasons and opportunities to do good job at head coach role and would be looking for new job this summer.

Leo Dubois considers to leave Galatasaray during summer transfer window.

It is reported that Galatasaray player Leo Dubois is looking for new club right now possibly returning to France as he informed to club that there should be easiness given to him in this summer transfer period.

Leo Dubois didnt recieve lots of playing time even through he did show occassionally some important performance and does have part of the cake in past league title but quite naturally he does consider to join team where he would be able to recieve more playing time and hence develop as player. It is reported that Galatasaray administration would accept his move to other club if it would recieve a good offer. There are some reports that he is recieving some good offers from French clubs as he would return to his homeland.
