What happened in Turkish football today? 04/03/2023

Fenerbahce has got crucial win against Kayserispor.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against Kayserispor with 2:1 scoreline and has kept themselves at title race and kept 6 points difference in the week where Galatasaray didnt play with finding 2 great goals thanks to Enner Valencia and Ferdi Kadioglu.

Due of an issue of Fenerbahce supporters not being allowed to visit Kayserispor game which has been mixed with political reasons without doubt has raised an interest and anticipation of the game and it needs to be mentioned that Fenerbahce has started game at high tempo which possibly has been affected due of this factors and also need to get win. After few minutes of Enner Valencia scoring goal on 6th minute, Fenerbahce has shown high tempo but later has reduced it playing more to the scoreline and controlling game. Even through Kayserispor did create some chances, Fenerbahce did look pretty confident on the field and later Ferdi Kadioglu has scored a very impressive goal. Only downside for Fenerbahce could be for some time losing tempo of the game and also conceding in the last minute, even through it did come when it was clear.

Kayserispor did come in good form with winning 3 last games out of 4, but it did struggled to get an upper hand at the moment of the game and let Fenerbahce to control game therefore it didnt provide much resistance. There are some notes which needs to be gotten from this game.

Fenerbahce hence did get an important win without much issues and would be meeting with Sevilla at high confidence at the Europa League on 9th March.

Trabzonspor ends its home undefeated run against last-spot Umraniyespor

Trabzonspor downside during this season is continuing as it lost to last spot Umraniyespor with 2:1 scoreline and hence has stopped its home record of unbeatable run of 36 games as both being far from title race and resignation of its CEO Ahmet Agaoglu has affected without doubt.

Trabzonspor it needs to be has been slightly better side during 1st half as it aimed to provide an attacking game but it needs to be mentioned that it did full control of the game and did lack creative attacking game which has been present at home games. Hence, without showing too much effective game, it did go into hand of Umraniyespor as it needed a win much more and has led them to get confidence which led Umraniyespor did provide stronger attacking game and has found 2 games. It does look like Trabzonspor did lose its concentration and hence would have difficult rest of the season with occassionally winning games as it lost its home ground dominance.

Umraniyespor as been noted several times both on our blogs and also generally in Turkish sports media that team is showing strong performance which didnt transform into results but it did tonight and this win would provide some confidence to its race for staying in the league.

Trabzonspor hence decline is continuing and Abdullah Avci has difficult aim to keep side concentration and motivation high but this coudl be difficult to achieve.

Besiktas would come out to Ankaragucu game with low concentration.

Besiktas who seems to out of confidence and motivation would be meeting with Ankaragucu at its home ground but compare to previous week it would be able to play its newly-signed players.

Besiktas as been noted is being side which seemed to be lost of confidence as it being out of title race and out of Turkish Cup but could still kept its aim for 3rd spot but for big clubs as it is known it is being difficult task to achieve when you are of title race. It needs to be mentioned that Besiktas would need to keep its confidence high to play for its supporters and possibly even prove themselves to Senol Gunes as there is high possibility that team would be going some important squad changes in summer transfer window. Still, when looking that many newly-signed players would be coming out could lead for side to show much effective game which would does put them slightly more advantage side.

Besiktas seem to be losing concentration right now and it would be interesting to see how it would respond after losing 2 points on previous week against Antalyaspor.
