Konyaspor both ended winning streak of opponent and losing streak of themselves.
Konyaspor has ended its losing streak of 9 games as it has managed to beat Galatasaray at home ground with 2:1 scoreline as opponent didnt lose for 14 games as Konyaspor did provide strong concentration and effort while opponents were far away from they usual performance.
Regardless which team you are and where you from, winning streak tend to be ending one day and hence it was expected that one day Galatasaray would end its record-breaking winning streak but it needs to be mentioned that it did come from unexpected opponent, to all respect to Konyaspor. Stating that, there was signs that Galatasaray did lose its level of performance during previous week of Kasimpasa and with meeting this time which did use factor of Galatasaray not being on case let them to lose game. Galatasaray did look to be better side and has been side to create chance but its hard to state that it did dominate game. With such performance, it did actually continue similar game during 2nd half but with Konyaspor raising tempo and looking for chances let for Galatasaray to lose control of the game and despite of also creating very important chances, game has been played in scenario which Konyaspor aimed for.
Konyaspor did come to this game at very poor performance in recent performance and also Aleksandr Stanojevic not being able to win game at his new club did lead him to pressure but also could be turning into advantage which he used with motivation right to players. This win could be crucial turning point for them for rest of the season.
Galatasaray did come out as favourite due of form of both sides, but in the end of the day side which needed and wanted more did get well-deserved result.
Fenerbahce supporters possibly prevented its own side to win tie.
Fenerbahce has been pretty close to bring Europa League game against Sevilla at least to the extra time, but anti-football performance and also help from unexpected source has prevented them to reach to that stage.
It needs to be mentioned that when coming into performance level and also tactically Fenerbahce did everything right to get through to the next stage and to some extend some last touches and unluck has affected to this outcome. Even through our blog did state that Fenerbahce would need to find an early goal, there were reports that Jorge Jesus would be planning to play controllable game in start of the game and afterwards start looking for goals as Sevilla tends to lose tempo towards end of the game. Apart of Michy Batshuayi chance, this has been more or less case. Things in fact did go well as it did found penalty goal in end of the 1st half and has provided good performance in 2nd half. However, Fenerbahce supporters throwing unwanted items to the field with one of them hitting to Sevilla goalkeeper did come in the moment when Fenerbahce raised its tempo and force and hence possibly prevented side to find key goal.
Fenerbahce did everything during this game but 2nd half during 1st tie has been decider in the tie as was feared after 1st leg too.
Sivasspor lost concentration during 2nd half.
Sivasspor and Fiorentina game has also sadly been dominated by behaviour of "supporters", this time it being more tragic as person entering into field has broken nose of Alessandro Bianco led to break nose.
Coming to the game, it needs to be mentioned that Sivasspor has started game in much better way as would been expected by them as it did aim to find goal which would equalise tie and did create numerous chances until finding great goal from distance by Erdogan Yesilyurt. However, goal from Fiorentina in the end of the half has affected concentration and focus of the team as it is known mediocre sides tend to be affected easily affected when conceding goals from stronger side. As Fiorentina continued to score, Sivasspor has both mentally and physically completed game and this led to loss of 4:1 scoreline and 5:1 at aggregate.
Sivasspor did provide good performance when looking into tournament in overall completing it at the top at the group stage and hence should be proud of its performance at overall.
