What happened in Turkish football today? 11/03/2023

Galatasaray got important win but didnt show very positive game.

Galatasaray has got an important win against Kasimpasa with 1:0 scoreline thanks to the goal from newly-signed Nicolo Zaniolo as it has shown anti-football performance in the last 20 minutes which led even supporters to be quiet.

Without playing for longer a month due of not playing last week and also break following devastating earthquake has been question how would Galatasaray return to the league. Even through during friendly games, Galatasaray did perform strong performance in friendlies but once again we saw friendly and official games are not same. Galatasaray in all fairness, did provide much better performance compare to Kasimpasa when looking into statistics, but it didnt have a tempo which has been used from Galatasaray as it had issues with creativity in attack which led for number of the chances. Only positive point which could be gotten among this win has been for Nicolo Zaniolo to score his 1st official goal for club in 1st game in the league which providing top level shot showing his level as player. Still, win is a win and Galatasaray would be happy with continuing winning streak.

Even through Kasimpasa is being close to relegation zone, it has shown improvement of performance in previous weeks and hence its been interesting to see how it would be responding. It needs to be mentioned that there was bigh difference between defence and attack, as Kasimpasa did show compact defence which led for only conceding one goal but same couldnt say with very passive attacking game.

Galatasaray has got 14th win back-to-back and got record as most wins in league history but side has been very far from its level and there is reduction of level of performance without doubt.

Besiktas and Basaksehirspor will be fighting for 3rd spot in the league.

Even through both Besiktas and Basaksehirspor are being out from title race so early in the league, both sides are being into big race for 3rd spot without doubt and hence it would be an important game.

Besiktas did show crucial improvements during last week game against Ankaragucu and would be expecting to use this raise of performance but it needs to be mentioned that Basaksehirspor even through also being in decline at the league has always been a side which does show strong organising game at defence, and hence it would be interesting to see how Besiktas would respond. Also, Besiktas need to see that first it is still having chances to fight for 2nd spot and at worst secure 3rd spot and if Senol Gunes would be able to focus into such aim it could show positive game. Basaksehirspor meanwhile would come out between games against Gent and hence could also be more focussed to that tie but in same time could keep motivation up in this period.

It is hard to call favourite of this game but if both sides would be taking 2-3rd spot aim realistic we could be seeing some exciting game.

Adana Demirspor is more motivatated and needs this game much more than Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor will be coming out into mentally difficult game against Adana Demirspor which tend to show strong positive game while Trabzonspor which also would come out with head coach and CEO also losing concentration which can be seen from previous week.

Looking at the previous game against last-spot Umraniyespor and in addition being at home, it was visible that Trabzonspor did lose lots of concentration, motivation and focus and with point difference being Galatasaray 22 points means that it would be having some very serious issue in the game. Meanwhile, Adana Demirspor continues its aims to end league at the top 4 and hence spot likely one of the Conference League and hence would be more motivated and confident prior to Trabzonspor and being strong favourite.

Without doubt, Trabzonspor will be focussing to restart another great home run but mentally it might not be able to show to show needed performance against such strong opponent.
