What happened in Turkish football today? 18/03/2023

Besiktas has won 3rd game back-to-back against Istanbulspor.

Besiktas has managed to get an important win against Istanbulspor with 3:1 scoreline and hence has won 3 games back-to-back but it didnt provide full dominance of the game and has played pretty low tempo performance.

During previous weeks, Besiktas has failed to provide high tempo performance and getting lots of chances during 90 minutes regardless if it did win or not and this has been case in this game. It needs to be mentioned that key factor of this game which led for 3:1 win has been for individual factors as all 3 goals has been very good and has shown high quality of the game but it needs to be mentioned for instance that Vincent Aboubakar has only scored with only 1 shot into the goal. Still and also with Galatasaray losing point in previous week it could be noted it has been crucial win with Besiktas reducing point difference to 11 points and provided some chances for title race.

Istanbulspor did come to the game at high confidence and motivation as it shown very good performance in recent weeks but quality factor between sides did play crucial role and Istanbulspor still could keep its motivation for upcoming games.

Besiktas did enter without doubt to international team break and high note and during this period should focus into transforming this win into also providing good performance.

Galatasaray has lost 3 points against Konyaspor

Galatasaray did lose a game against Konyaspor which also meant that Istanbul giant has lost its 1st game after 14 games while Konyaspor has won its first game after 9 games, with home side wanting game much more.

There was high expectations with many people that Galatasaray did come out to the game as being strong favourite but it needs to be mentioned that it did game too lightly and did provide not very effective goal and did just use one opportunity with getting ahead. When coming into generally it is hard to state that Konyaspor did provide very good performance but it did look with strategically game during 1st half and after 2nd half with finding possibility of turning game into its own favourite has used counter-attack pretty in effective manner. It needs to be mentioned that Galatasaray despite of winning against Kasimpasa previous week, it has been on decline and this break would provide chance to sort this decline at national team break.

Therefore, Galatasaray has been on decline right now and hence this chance would be able to sort out this issue during this break if it wants to keep advantage at title race.

Fenerbahce will be extra motivated after Galatasaray loss earlier this week

Fenerbahce which was coming out towards Alanyaspor during Super League game, has been even more important with Galatasaray losing 3 points and has allowed side to reduce point difference to 6 points with game in hand.

It needs to be mentioned that physically and mentally Fenerbahce did have with Sevilla at Europa League with providing confident performance but didnt manage to get to quarter-final and hence this could have some impact to Alanyaspor but Fenerbahce would need to be aware that this are being two different competitions and with Galatasaray losing game on 17th March without doubt would provide some confidence. Hence, it would be expected for Fenerbahce to provide strong and confident attacking game for 90 minutes and hence it would be coming out as favourite side. Alanyaspor tends to show good performance again top clubs but it needs to be stated that its not getting very good results in recent weeks.

Fenerbahce hence would be coming out with great opportunity to reduce point difference with Galatasaray at the top which would provide strong confidence and motivation for the team as it would turn positively into field for sure.
