What happened in Turkish football today? 11/02/2023

Death toll continues to be rising in Turkey.

Death toll following 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes in Turkey has been rising unfortunately getting close to 23,000 people with getting unwanted news as KahramanmarasIstiklalSpor player Burhannetin Sever and 5 referees and observer has passed away.

Devastating earthquake which has hit South-west part of the Turkey continues to show why it has been one of the biggest earthquakes and also being biggest one hit since 1939. Death toll is getting close to 23,000 and is expecting to be rising as one of the players which has been waiting at footballing world has been Christian Atsu as people still hoping for his safe saving but of course every life is important here and we are still hearing occassionally some miracle stories even through they would be reducing as hours are passing by. Today's passing away from footballing world has reminded also that life is more important than news.

This earthquake has affected without doubt into mentality of Turkish community and it would be very difficult to recover from it.

Clubs need to be careful with statements outside of earthquake.

There seems to be lots of discussion regarding of Besiktas CEO Ahmet Nur Cebi statement that all points during whole season should be erased for whole season which has recieved lots of criticism from football supporters with stating that Cebi is thinking about points in this crises period.

Without doubt, with Hatayspor and Gaziantep not completing season, an issue of they points is being an important matter but which could be waiting when crises would be over as all priority in whole country should be into saving earthquake zones especially with clubs focussing into sending donations and aid. Besiktas did defend itself that TFF did raise topic on its meeting and Ahmet Nur Cebi and that he was only providing his opinion. Even if this case, Besiktas could have made more sensible and not making this statement publicly as TFF and other clubs didnt.

We are still going through emotional and devastating times and hence all clubs needs to be sensible if they dont want to get harsh right criticism.

Whole football community encourage people to take action towards earthquake in Turkey.

Aid and donations actions are still continuing with most eye-catching from today has been Turkish National Team head coach Stefan Kuntz becoming cashier for 1 hour and Adana Demirspor player Gokhan Tore willing to adopt one kid from earthquake area.

Stefan Kuntz action has been in Germany shopping centre as an aim to provide awareness and raise donations for earthquake in Turkey as he did provide lots of support from start. Another important actions has been Adana Demirspor player Gokhan Tore and his wife would be applying to adopt child who has become homeless after devastating earthquake.

Every player both in Turkey and around world are making clear that people should act with donations to help Turkey and Syria and without doubt would continue to do so in upcoming days as Turkey is being thankful for this help.
