What happened in Turkish football today? 31/01/2023

Besiktas lost crucial points for title race.

Besiktas has lost crucial 2 points at the game against in-form Fatih Karagumruk and hence finds themselves 9 points behind league leaders Galatasaray as it has shown today low tempo and passive performance in all field.

Even through lots of pundits around Turkey were praising performance of Besiktas as it has won 5-games back-to-back, there were given some criticism towards them during this game. As it has met against in good form side which does aim to show strong and positive performance and with an addition that team didnt play its best game at all did led for them to be struggled. In fact, it needs to be gladful for Fatih Karagumruk to not provide too much pressure and brave football after Ozdoev has made scoreline as 1:1 as it could lost game. Only area which did provide some fighting spirit has been midfield area, especially Gedson Fernandes, which possibly did lead for Besiktas to get into high number of chances which were not converted successfully while it had issues in defence when Fatih Karagumruk did create chances. As been noted, Besiktas are being at knife-edge area for title race and this 2 points did make this aim even more difficult.

Fatih Karagumruk on they part has shown good performance but could have been showing more brave and aggressive game as it could have won game but it has been too much scared due of name of the opponent. Still, Fatih Karagumruk on going into right direction in this recent period of games.

Besiktas hence didnt provide much effort and didnt find needed pressure to provide too much issues to opponent and did lose crucial 2 points during title race without doubt.

Galatasaray will meet against last-spot opponent.

Galatasaray would be aiming to carry on its winning streak at the game which are going to be played with leaders and last-spot side as it is expected for Istanbul giant to dominate against Umraniyespor.

Even through Galatasaray without doubt would be coming as strong favourites when looking at recent performances of the team, it needs to be mentioned that biggest mistake which Galatasaray can do is to take lightly its opponents. According to some sources, Galatasaray did break 13-game of winning back-to-back official games even through some argue that its only being recorded to league games from where there is 3 more games. In either way, Galatasaray could also have risk of relaxation by achieving its aim for breaking role which could lead to lack of concentration. Meanwhile, Umraniyespor would be focussed to fight for point which would be important for them as it would be without doubt be seen as extra point at its aim to stay at the league.

Galatasaray are being clear favourites for the game but as always it would be need to be fully focussed as no game is won without playing according to famous football cliche.

Trabzonspor will seek to regain confidence.

Trabzonspor without doubt would be coming out to very important game against Antalyaspor as they would need to get win to keep its chances arrive for title race and also get confidence prior to Galatasaray game on weekend.

Trabzonspor continues showing good performance at home ground and so good in away games and taking account that it would be playing against side which it did officially clinch title during this season could also provide an extra motivation to the team due of "special place" opponent has to them. However, it needs to be mentioned that with being 13 points behind league leaders and game to be played at weekday there is possibility of low number of supporters will be coming to the team which could affect negatively into motivation and focus to the players. Meanwhile, it is important to note that even through title hopes are getting less and less for team, it would need to focus into its performance to not get even worser situation.

Trabzonspor would aim to regain its confidence for sure prior to an important Galatasaray this weekend and with playing at home it is being favourite.
