What happened in Turkish football today? 27/02/2023

Teddy bear campaign has been much more memorable than game.

Besiktas has found itself even much further from league leaders after it has drawn against Antalyaspor and currently is being 14 points behind Galatasaray with equal amount of games. Both sides didnt provide an impressive game as highlight has been for supporters through teddy bears which would send to children affected by earthquake.

It needs to be mentioned that all players right now are coming to the games in pretty psychological burden as devastating earthquake in Kahramanmaras and Hatay of 7.6 and 7.7 has affected mentally to everyone. So, this could have affected to the level of performance but it needs to be mentioned with all honesty, that level of Turkish Super League has not been very high before that. Therefore, in such inactive game from both sides, good will from supporters throwing teddy bears onto field which would send later to children affected from earthquake would be most memorable event. Therefore, it could be mentioned that goodwill and togetherness has won in the end of the day.

Regardless of emotional condition of the game, it needs to be mentioned Besiktas has been side at decline and in fact Senol Gunes record is not much better than Valerien Ismael making clear that issue might not be with coaches.

Alanyaspor has appointed Ersun Yanal for 1.5 years.

Alanyaspor has appointed Ersun Yanal for 1.5 years after its head coach Francisco Farioli has announced that he would resign from his post in unexpected manner as it is reported he wanted to spend with his family back in Italy.

Even through there could be some arguments that Farioli style of game is not being very suitable for Super League, he still has shown some good performance with positive gameplay and did get some good results during his stay especially at Turkish Cup. With all respect to Ersun Yanal, there is possibility that team would lose such open performance and go much more defensive but there is possibility it could show some good results despite of that. Yanal did work with this team in previous years and is aware of aims and targets of the team and hence he would be able to focus on them and it needs to be mentioned that he does have good squad in his hand.

Hence, Ersun Yanal is being good appointment for Alanyaspor even through he might not show similar results as did Farioli in start.

Reaction from some fans towards government has raised tension

During this weekend  games, there has been lots of controversy between Fenerbahce and Besiktas supporters with government as former has shown their anger due of government incapacities during earthquake in their view.

It needs to be mentioned that Nationalist Movement Party(MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli, who is being into union with ruling party did mention that some actions needs to be done towards this supporters or games should be played without supporters. Politically, there are many issues which could be discussed here but we would not get too much into it. However, it needs to be mentioned that in democratic country and according to constitution fans as everyone else has right to express opinion. Only issue which could be mentioned is timing as Turkey still goes through such difficult time. Also, it needs to be mentioned that many clubs showing reaction towards this activity, seem to "confuse" state and government with each other.

This are being sensible time, and many parts of body need to show calmness and not raise too much tension both fans and government.

Both Besiktas and Antalyaspor didnt do much to win game

Turkish Super League 14th week postponed game between Antalyaspor and Besiktas has ended with goalless draw as game has been played in pretty low tempo and both sides didnt get any upper hand at the attacking game due of showing any quality game.

The game has been played in very low tempo as both sides didnt look to be providing some chances and had an issue with getting into opportunities as players has not been motivated and concentrated to the game. It needs to be mentioned that both side didnt use its mid-transfer window as both sides did come with squad with November excluding players which were sold. It needs to be mentioned that Besiktas has been better side during 90 minutes when looking statistically and has been side which did create some opportunities but surely it wasnt enough for side to get win. Only positive aspect of the game has been pre-game action from Besiktas supporters where supporters has shown teddy bears which would been send to childen affected from earthquake at Kahramanmaras and Hatay.

Antalyaspor did come out to the game with high number of absences especially in the attack and as Besiktas didnt use its players which were signed during this mid-season and hence couldnt provide much creativity in the attcks. Antalyaspor needs to improve its performance upcoming games if it doesnt want to find itslef at relegation scare in last weeks.

With those outcome Besiktas is being 14 points behind league leaders Galatasaray and with being out of Turkish Cup are being club without aim and this could have some negative impact to concentration for rest of the season.

Fenerbahce got an easy confident win against Konyaspor.

Fenerbahce has got confident and pretty easy win against Konyaspor during Super League postponed 23rd week game and did look not to be much affected from earthquake break in physical sense.

Without doubt, Fenerbahce task for getting 3 point in such manner has become much easier after 2 yellow cards of Mame Diouf on 22nd minute but it needs to be mentioned that Fenerbahce would have won game as it was leading game with penalty kick from Enner Valencia some minutes before Diouf being sending off. Meanwhile, with Valencia goal from penalty and also later great goal at the end of the 1st half has led him to score 22nd goal and continue to play an important role with attackers in this season. This win is not good reference since Konyaspor didnt provide much reference point but without doubt provided confidence and motivation in its title race and also upcoming Europa League games against Sevilla.

Fenerbahce has been showing much more better game compare to opponents and hence did get an important confidence boost with 4:0 scoreline.

Togetherness among clubs should carry on even after earthquake.

Togetherness, which has been started during earthquake period among Turkish clubs and also at Conference League game between Trabzonspor and Basel among big 4 clubs, has been continued in the league as club CEO has visited to Fenerbahce and Besiktas games.

Turkish football during recent years, and in fact including just days before devastating earthquake has happened, there was lots of tension but as soon as earthquake has happened all this hatred has been stopped and we have saw action of being together and sign that clubs could have friendly relationship outside of footballing field and not forgetting about competition in the field. Now all clubs CEOs need to focus that this friendship among clubs would carry on continue in upcoming period.

This togetherness of common good should carry on among clubs and this understanding and friendly connection should carry on and not only during earthquake period.

Fenerbahce got confident win against Konyaspor

Fenerbahce got confident win against Konyaspor during Super League postponed 23rd week game and has shown strong return to its title race following devastating earthquake break while Konyaspor continues its poor run with its newly-appointed coach Aleksandr Stanojevic.

It needs to be mentioned that there were worry into what form would all clubs in the league return to the game both morally and physically following tragic and devastating earthquake break but it does look like Fenerbahce wasnt affected and in fact did improve. It could be stated that until opening goal from Enner Valencia at 13th minutes but still got into full control of the game. It also needs to be mentioned that Mame Diouf red card which did come pretty early did make much easier job and Fenerbahce has got full control of the game as it did found 3 more goals and has dominated game without letting Konyaspor to create any opportunities and hence it got very confident win with sending Galatasaray and everyone else at the league as it stays for title race. Hence, this win has been very important for confidence for the team until end of the season.

Konyaspor on their part does continue poor performance with Aleksandr Stanojevic as it has lost 5th game back-to-back with team head coach and didnt provide any signs of providing pressure to opponent even if it was played 11-on-11. Things are not going well for them at all and Stanojevic needs urgently to identify and find solutions for this poor performance.

Fenerbahce hence has returned confidently to the league against Konyaspor and has shown themselves to be strong title contenders not only in the standings but also with performance of the team.

Besiktas could have issues with concentration against Antalyaspor as it far from title race.

Besiktas would be playing against Antalyaspor in the return to the league as this game has been postponed twice with 1st time due of terrorist attack which took place in Taksim and now due of devastating earthquake.

As game has been planned to be played on October, even before start of the World Cup 2022, means that there would be some important absences at the both sides as both sides did sell players and also players which were purchased during mid-season transfer window will not be able to compete. It also need to be mentioned that Besiktas are being 12 points against league leaders Galatasaray and hence it could be difficult for Besiktas to provide full concentration as it is being side without any aims as it was relegated from Turkish Cup. It needs to be mentioned however Antalyaspor are also missing lots of key players and also dont have much aims and are not being in great form. With Besiktas hence is playing at home, some emotionality during of earthquake and also fans throwing toys for earthquake affected kids could also provide some motivation to players among being also in slightly better form.

Besiktas hence are coming as favourites during the game but being far from league title race it could have some lack of concentration and motivation during game.

Nahid Ramazan Yamak has been elected as new Giresunspor CEO

Giresunspor has elected new CEO duirng today's election, as new CEO has been Nahid Ramazan Yamak who has been run as single candidate and have some issues with solving economical issues and also needs results to come to the team.

Giresunspor does have some recent issues both with its performance and also have economical issues which it needs to solve urgently among lifting transfer ban which it has during this mid-season transfer window so without doubt Nahid Ramazan Yamak have some difficult issues. It needs to be stated that Yamak has been at the previous administration team. Hence with knowing how this team is being managed in previous period, and also being inside reasons why those issues which team is has been raised, he would not have much issues to recognise problems and could have possibly some ideas how to solve them. Of course, knowing its not same as solving it and even through he is being good name to find solutions, supporters would need to give time for him to get back into rails for club.

Nahid Ramazan Yamak hence has opened new chapter for the Giresunspor and now he would be focussing into solving those issues.

Trabzonspor has been unlucky to go through Basel at away game.

Trabzonspor has pretty unlucky during Conference League game against Basel as it has been better side but due of disallowed goals and not converting penalty as Bakasetas has slipped led them to lose tie with 2:1 scoreline.

There was lots of worries how Trabzonspor would be performing at away game against Basel as it does show poor performance at away game and 1st tie result despite of 1:0 win did provide some worries as it is being miniature advantage. Stating that Trabzonspor did provide right focus to the game has showing some attacking game and wasnt affected morally both when it did concede 2 goals from Basel and also when it didnt score. However, it did make some defensive mistakes as 2 goals which been conceded has been come from such mistakes possibly due of providing too much attacking game. Still, Trabzonspor could come out from 2 leg games with heads up as it try its best but wasnt unlucky.

Trabzonspor did show that it come out with only aim to win game but it has been unlucky and to some extend did fail to convert some chances.

Leagues would be resumed with postponed games after devastating earthquake.

Turkish Super League would be resumed following devastating with postponed games during this weekend, as Fenerbahce would be meeting against Konyaspor as it would be willing to continue good form it has shown in recent weeks before break.

Fenerbahce and Konyaspor without doubt has been mentally affected by earthquake and its aftermath at Kahramanmaras of 7.7 and 7.6 but it did provide focus into training sessions and hence would be expected to be physically ready. It has been reported that Fenerbahce head coach Jorge Jesus did especially focus into players getting back its focus for the games during training session and hence it would be expected for them to be ready. It also needs to be reminded that this has been 1st game since referee scandal against Adana Demirspor for Fenerbahce but without doubt everyone forgot that due of earthquake.

Fenerbahce would be coming out to game as favourites as it could be pretty emotional game due of events from earthquake.

Fenerbahce could get some good result against Sevilla

Fenerbahce would be playing against Sevilla during Europa League last 16 stage as this tie does remind times when Fenerbahce has relegated its opponents while penalties in same stage but in Champions League in 2007-08 season.

It needs to be mentioned that with many clubs either coming from Champions League or being at that level side at the draw, Fenerbahce did get pretty good draw when looking at the form of Sevilla as it does have medicore performance in the La Liga but it still being one of the most successful clubs at Europa League and has always shown extra motivation so this could provide some problems for Fenerbahce. Stating that, Fenerbahce has coach which always been aiming high at the tournament so this could provide needed motivation and confidence for side.

Therefore, Sevilla does look to be popular on paper but Fenerbahce could provide some surprising outcome as it has potentiality to do so for sure.

Trabzonspor has been relegated from Conference League.

Trabzonspor has been eliminated from Conference League after losing 2nd leg of 2nd round against Swiss side Basel with 2:0 scoreline and an aggregate of 2:1 even through it has been better side and in addiiton penalty and 2 goals were ruled out during game.

Even through Trabzonspor does continue getting negative result at away games as it lost to Basel this time and hence been out of tournament, it needs to be mentioned that it has actually been better side and creating chances and providing opportunities while Basel did use its opportunities in stronger manner with scoring 2 goals. As been noted, one of the Trabzonspor penalties in start of the 2nd half has been ruled out but it needs to be mentioned that Trabzonspor did get a penalty opportunity but it wasnt converted by Anastios Bakasetas. Trabzonspor despite of some decisions from referee team, even through most been rightfully, has been focussed into game and has always been side which did look for chances without giving up for 90 minutes. In other words, it could be mentioned that Trabzonspor has been relegated with heads up as it did provide an effective game which it can be happy about.

Basel on their part did show more or less controllable game and has used its opportunities and did stay always into high concentration which it needed to do against Trabzonspor. It has been lucky to go through in all fairness when looking into games of 2 legs, but again luck doesnt come to everyone.

Trabzonspor has been relegated from Conference League at pretty emotional tie due of recent devastating earthquake and it could be stated that it did good performance and has been pretty unlucky.

TFF has allowed players to be registered in 4 clubs during this season.

TFF has made an official statement regarding of allowing players to be played at 4 clubs during this season and also letting Gaziantep and Hatayspor player to be moving outside of country until 5th March.

As it is known, Gaziantep and Hatayspor due of devastating earthquake which took place on 6th February has made statement that it wont complete this season and TFF after approving has allowed players from side to play in other clubs for rest of the season mostly with loan deal. Therefore, there was needed to change guideline at which it allowed those players to be registered at 4 clubs and play for 3 clubs hence openning door for players which were transferred during mid-season transfer window. In addition, head coaches would be allowed to coach also 4 clubs this season.

Hence, this is being decision at extraordinary conditions and TFF has right action to act on this issue during this season.

Internacional has made transfer deal with Enner Valencia for next summer

Probably biggest transfer rumour which did come out from today has been that Internacional has made transfer deal with Fenerbahce player Enner Valencia for next summer transfer window.

It needs to be mentioned that following statement has been rumour and there were not made any statements from both clubs but if its being right information that it would be seen as not very good development as Enner Valencia does continue to be having memorable season right now which hence did raise such interests among memorable performance during World Cup 2022. Hence, it would be natural to expect for lots of clubs to show such interest and if true for Internacional to act very fast.

Once again this is being rumour but if its being true Fenerbahce would need to look for replacement for Valencia next summer.

Trabzonspor needs to go through its away poor form against Basel.

Trabzonspor would continue its aim to get into last 16 of the Conference League as it would be playing against Basel in Switzealand with 1:0 advantage but it needs to be aware that it being slippery scoreline.

Even through Basel would start its own fundraising campaign for earthquake in Turkey, it needs to be mentioned that game would not be played under similar emotional atmosphere as did 1st leg game which could hence take away emotional factor which been pleasant last week. As it is known, Trabzonspor are showing good performance at home but doesnt do same during in away games and this game could be even more difficult in this sense as it is being outside of Turkey compare to league games. Hence, during this game Trabzonspor would need to focus towards defensive game and prevent Basel to get control of the game.

Trabzonspor are coming with advantage scoreline but it needs to take seriosly due of its poor away game record this season.

Basaksehirspor signs Dogukan Tozlu

Basaksehirspor has signed Goztepe player Dogukan Tozlu and would likely to see as potential player not only for club but also generally for country as long as side gives him playing time.

Stating that, this transfer could be seen more or less a project for future of the team rather then as current players as side is still being at title race and hence unlikely to provide playing time for such young player as it tends to be case in Super League. It needs to be mentioned meanwhile that Basaksehirspor did work well with developing young Turkish players and if Tozlu provides right reaction he would be crucial player for side.

Hence, Tozlu did get an opportunity to be at club with high aims and does get opportunity to prove himself during training sessions.

Istanbulspor signs Kubilay Koylu

Istanbulspor has signed 3rd league player Malatya Arguvanspor player Kubilay Koylu as both side saw potential with young player and also due of economical reasons.

Without doubt main aim for Istanbulspor for rest fo the season is to stay at the league and hence would need to strengthen its squad, but economical is also being with most economical issues in the league and hence has difficulty to sign players. Stating that if Istanbulspor did sign Kubilay Koylu did see potential but possibly it would need to patient with him as player has been moved with 4 league layers up and might have issues to be adapted to this league and Istanbulspor needs to make sure this transformation goes smoothly.

Kubilay Koylu possibly as been noted has potential but Istanbulspor needs to be patient for sure.

Hatayspor sports director Taner Savut has passed away under rubbles.

Hatayspor has announced that its sports director Taner Savut has died under rubbles at infamous Renassans Residence during devastating 7.7 earthquake at Southwest of the Turkey.

With Hatay as whole city has been heavily affected from earthquake and many death reports coming from city, it also needs to state that Hatayspor has been most heavily affected from this devastating earthquake among Super League clubs. With Rennasans Residences being especially into criticism, it also included Christian Atsu at same building among some other people from club has been passed away. This earthquake without doubt did provide lots of pain of Hatayspor and our pages is sending all of the condolences.

It would take a long time for Hatayspor to get into their feet both morally and also as club and everyone who is involved should provide support and patience towards them.

Adana Demirspor terminated contract with Gokhan Tore.

Adana Demirpsor has announced that it has terminated contract with its player Gokhan Tore as player is losing tempo which he did show in previous years and it didnt recieve lots of playing times at high aim club.

Without doubt, with Adana Demirspor very likely didnt plan to use him a lot of rest of the season did play an important role in this terminating contract as Tore would likely still to get some recieving game and does still show not very bad performance. He is likely to be making deal with new club from Super League but more modest side as there is time to move on this transfer window until 5th March.

Therefore, there would be given some interests among Super League clubs until end of the season which we would be following on our pages.

Zakharyan would not join Galatasaray due of personal reasons.

Dinamo Moscow player Arsen Zakharyan has stated that he would not join Galatasaray due of personal reasons despite of Turkish club having intensive negotiations with his side.

There might be questions what could be personal reasons of Zakharyan, and in here its important to note that he does have Armenian background which could played an important role in his decision, factor which didnt see to be mentioned in Turkish media a lot. It also needs to be mentioned that Dinamo Moscow and many Russian pundits were reluctant to sell player to Galatasaray as they see as going backwards for him potential player especially when Chelsea were showing interest towards him.

Therefore, Zakharyan has closed door for transfer with Galatasaray and right now club would likely for some new names in this window.

In addition, Fenerbahce player Serdar Dursun has visited hospital where he met with earthquake affected Omer and gave him as present football shirt as player continue giving motivation to kids.

Ankaragucu has appointed its caretaker coach Sedat Agcay as clubs head coach as it didnt find alternative after Omer Erdogan has left side due of unsuccessful results.

Taking account of earthquake factor and also not much coaches being available in this tournament, Ankaragucu has decided to appoint Sedat Agcay as it is head coach as team has also been worked at academy for long time and hence is being aware of club aims and potential and hence would be focussing into getting good results which sides need urgently when league would be resumed. He doesnt have much experience at top level but being aware of side potential as been noted would provide advantage to get some good results.

It is being difficult moment from Ankaragucu and hence he would need to focus into how side would get some good results at short period of time to get away from relegation zone.

All of the sides meanwhile would be going both to TFF justice section as study of this issue would be going through and hopefully right decision would be given. It does look wording of the contract would be playing an issue which wasnt shown to media and only words of bodies involved made statements.

Kasimpasa loans Papy Djoboloudji until end of the season.

Kasimpasa continues making deals with players which players from Hatayspor and Gaziantep as this time it has made loan deal with Papy Djoboulodji who without doubt would provide significant strength to the side for rest of the season.

Due of devastating earthquake of 7.7 and 7.6 at Hatay and Gaziantep has led for both teams to get out from squad and allowing players to be loaned to other side to carry on playing professional football. Without doubt, Djoboulodji is being one of the strongest and effective sides at Gaziantep during this season and without doubt Kasimpasa to loan him would be seen as an important addition to the side. Kasimpasa are not having very good season and are using this opportunities, if it allowed to say so, in good manner and does continue to strength its squad for rest of the season.

As would be expected right now focus has been towards players which are available at Gaziantep and Hatay and we would see if clubs would continue to use such opportunities.

This without doubt is being meaningful action as he did collect this ball as special event but now is openning into sale for better good.

With both Buruk and Akturkoglu doing such meaningful action, some other players could follow suit in upcoming days.

Rakow are interested to sign Fenerbahce player Serdar Dursun.

One of the interesting transfer rumours from this day has been that Polish league leaders Rakow are interested to transfer Fenerbahce player Serdar Dursun who is not recieving lots of playing time during this season.

Rakow are currently being into league leaders as Polish Ekstraklasa and currently focussing into winning title and to achieve that they are focussed to sign strong attacking player and with economical possibilities it does see Dursun as good alternative as he does have good scoring rate even through due of quality he hardly recieves playing time. Even through such move could be seen as going backwards by some, it would be actually be smart move as he would be able to recieve playing time and with that possibly develop into better player.

Rakow could hence do some actions in this transfer area and as always we would follow latest developments.

Conference League will experience most emotional game in its history.

Trabzonspor would be restarting its Conference League as it going to meet with Swiss side Basel at 2nd round of the tournament as the game would be played in high emotional and difficult days for the country.

Normally, we should be stating that life continues, sentence which would be used in upcoming days around country, but we need to remember that this would not be case for many families who has experienced earthquake. Still, with UEFA regulations game needs to be played as Trabzonspor didnt have an opportunity to train a lot due of emotional pleasure and hence it could be also physically difficult game for Trabzonspor and not only morally. Stating that, Trabzonspor without doubt did also gain its achievement as stadium would be full with not only Trabzonspor but all supporters around Turkey as payments would be going to victims of the earthquake. Regardless of the result, stadium would become as one and unified towards all victims of the earthquake.

Trabzonspor players would be coming out to the game in emotional feeling and it would be hard for players to provide full concentration very likely.

Kasimpasa has changed on last minute at Hatay before earthquake.

As always in the tragedies, we are hearing some stories where due of luck or last minute changes we do here some stories of survival and one of them with is being without doubt Kasimpasa changing hotel in last moment as it visited Hatay.

In the beginning, hotel where Kasimpasa has been originally planned to stay has been totally destructed following 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes in southwest part of the country. It needs to be mentioned that team didnt change due of conditions of the building, but due of request from Selcuk Inan stating that hotel is being in the central part of the city and would have lots of noise and hence would affect concentration of the players and has chosen hotel which is closer to stadium, that hotel didnt recieve too much damage from earthquake.

Hence, without doubt this has been miracle storyline for Kasimpasa as whole team could have much more tragic consquences of its visits.

Trabzonspor has loaned Gaziantep player Lazar Markovic until end of the season

He did perform also at Fenerbahce previously showing some good performance even through didnt entirely fulfill his expectations but is used to show top level performance at top club in country.

It would take time for Turkey due of this recovery process and mourning would not be over from today as it been set today for sure.

Ghana's Crime Check calls for its government to be involved at research and search at earthquake.

Staying at the Hatayspor player Christian Atsu rescue and search job and other people stucked at rubbles, Ghana's organisation Crime Check has requested for its government to be directly involved.

According to reports, Ghana didnt send its rescuers to Turkey which possibly raised some criticism in home country due of its player missing if we refer to this response from Crime Check. It would be interesting to see how Ghana government would respond to this and how it would affect to search work both of Atsu and whole research and search process in Turkey.

What happened in Turkish football today? 11/02/2023

Death toll continues to be rising in Turkey.

Death toll following 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes in Turkey has been rising unfortunately getting close to 23,000 people with getting unwanted news as KahramanmarasIstiklalSpor player Burhannetin Sever and 5 referees and observer has passed away.

Devastating earthquake which has hit South-west part of the Turkey continues to show why it has been one of the biggest earthquakes and also being biggest one hit since 1939. Death toll is getting close to 23,000 and is expecting to be rising as one of the players which has been waiting at footballing world has been Christian Atsu as people still hoping for his safe saving but of course every life is important here and we are still hearing occassionally some miracle stories even through they would be reducing as hours are passing by. Today's passing away from footballing world has reminded also that life is more important than news.

This earthquake has affected without doubt into mentality of Turkish community and it would be very difficult to recover from it.

Clubs need to be careful with statements outside of earthquake.

There seems to be lots of discussion regarding of Besiktas CEO Ahmet Nur Cebi statement that all points during whole season should be erased for whole season which has recieved lots of criticism from football supporters with stating that Cebi is thinking about points in this crises period.

Without doubt, with Hatayspor and Gaziantep not completing season, an issue of they points is being an important matter but which could be waiting when crises would be over as all priority in whole country should be into saving earthquake zones especially with clubs focussing into sending donations and aid. Besiktas did defend itself that TFF did raise topic on its meeting and Ahmet Nur Cebi and that he was only providing his opinion. Even if this case, Besiktas could have made more sensible and not making this statement publicly as TFF and other clubs didnt.

We are still going through emotional and devastating times and hence all clubs needs to be sensible if they dont want to get harsh right criticism.

Whole football community encourage people to take action towards earthquake in Turkey.

Aid and donations actions are still continuing with most eye-catching from today has been Turkish National Team head coach Stefan Kuntz becoming cashier for 1 hour and Adana Demirspor player Gokhan Tore willing to adopt one kid from earthquake area.
