What happened in Turkish football today? 29/10/2020

Sivasspor didnt provide attacking game which was expected.

Sivasspor continues poor performance of Turkish clubs at Europe as it lost unexpectedly against Maccabi Tel Aviv at Europa League Group I 2nd week game and did put itself chances for 2nd round into difficulty since it found itself 6 points behind Villarreal and Maccabi.

There were high hopes for Sivasspor attack especially when remembering how side did perform during last week against Villarreal but apart of start of the 2nd half during which period it did find goal with Kayode it needs to be noted that it didnt provide high level even through penalty kick of Gradel on 68th minute and red card of Sivasspor did lose confidence and tempo for Sivasspor with game going into hand of Maccabi Tel Aviv which it used towards end of game. Coming to 1st half, Sivasspor even through did have slightly more opportunities compare to their opponents, it still didnt provide as much pressure which it did expected to do so. Therefore, sadly it could be noted that Sivasspor didnt provide performance which it could have when comparing level between both sides with Maccabi only advantage could been for experience which they have in this tournament. Right now, Sivasspor would be playing 2 games against Qarabag where both sides would need 6 points for hopes for next round to keep strong.

Even through Maccabi Tel Aviv didnt provide much better performance compare to they opponents, it still been side which stayed focussed during whole game and using opportunity from Sivasspor red card and penalty got win on their part and good advantage for knockout stage.

Sivasspor didnt provide strong attacking game and should treat this game as experience and opportunity to improve for upcoming games against Qarabag.

Basaksehirspor showed brave game against PSG.

Basaksehirspor even through did lose to PSG with 2:0 scoreline conceding both goals from Mose Keane did provide pretty strong and brave football with focussing into attacking game and having 17 shots into goal.

As been noted, one of the advantages of Basaksehirspor is not having under huge pressure for this game and in group to win games from around world, including Turkey, which does provide it to show its best game without being too much criticised. Regardless of scoreline, which in all fairness both during PSG and RB Leipzig, did come from experience of clubs and squads, did provide game which would get positive view and sympathy from neutral fans even through stating that it did one who deserved to win could be going too far. It is true that PSG didnt show their best game and Basaksehirspor even without supporters did have some home advantage, but we dont need to ignore what Basaksehirspor which didnt show much fear from PSG with attacking game, thing which Galatasaray did fail last season.

This kind of attitude could bring even win in this group but even if it doesnt and Basaksehirspor would end group with 0 points, this attitude would be praised.

Trabzonspor urgently needs to win.

Trabzonspor would be coming to very crucial game against Kasimpasa as side would be needing to win both for table and also for Eddie Newton as negative result could lead club to sack him for sure now.

It needs to be noted that with Trabzonspor failing to get results which it seeks for, with having only 1 win after 6 weeks and being 11 points behind leaders, Kasimpasa is opponent which does show slow game without much structure at front but in same time it does have strong defence game which tends to be intense and focussed into slowing down tempo and with Trabzonspor does show issues with creativity at front could easily provide issues to the side at front. Therefore, it also would be expected to be game to be played with slow tempo but still on control with Trabzonspor, key would be here to show some creative attempts during game.

Trabzonspor would need to play for win but its attackers need to show strong effective game to get it in this game.
