What happened in Turkish football today? 19/10/2020

Galatasaray did lose to leaders of the league without providing high level game.

Galatasaray has lost its 2nd game since start of the season and didnt win for last 3 weeks as it lost with 2:1 scoreline to league leaders Alanyaspor with 2:1 scoreline which been mainly affected with 2 yellow cards which been got by Etebo during 1st half.

This game has been expected to be game to be played with highest tempo during this week with both sides  until now showing positive attacking game but possibly due of importance for both sides its been mainly concentrated to defence game where Galatasaray did provide defensive slow tempo game during 1st half. With 2nd yellow card of Etebo towards end of 1st half, it could be noted that Galatasaray did provide defensive game which been expected. Despite of that, it did aim to show positive game and did find goal with Younes Belhanda but been disallowed due of Ryan Babel handball prior to this positive as been rightly spotted by VAR. However, despite of that position it could be noted that Galatasaray didnt provide that fighting spirit which needed to be shown as only player who did show an extra men level of game been Ryan Babel while others didnt provide much response. It does look like Galatasaray did lose that attitude which it had in start of season and Terim needs to find ways how to improve this.

Alanyaspor meanwhile has shown strong tactical game making it clear that it prepared for game against Galatasaray and with high level concentrated game did get well-deserved outcome without sure. With this outcome it regained 2 point advantage against Fenerbahce in the league.

Galatasaray continues to be showing decline in performance level and it does look like some players did lose concentration which it had in start of the season.

Fenerbahce got important win against Goztepe.

Fenerbahce has got an important win against Goztepe during Super League 5th week with 3:2 scoreline even through it is difficult to note that it did provide full attacking game for 90 minutes despite of showing much more improvement compare to previous game.

It needs to be noted that Fenerbahce did create high number of the chances especially during 1st half and could even win game with more confident scoreline but did have issues with last touches as attackers in all fairness did have issues with converting opportunities during great performance from midfielders without doubt. It does need to be seen hence that attackers which club does have good ones need to get still adapted fully to the side to use opportunities provided from midfielders into full effect. Another issue in the club that it does have trouble of providing high level game for 90 minutes, as Goztepe provided good attacking game in 10 minutes while Fenerbahce did struggle to show much attacking game with Altay Bayindir as he did against Fatih Karagumruk did find crucial goal has prevented for game to be ended with draw.

Fenerbahce still continues its season without loss of game which would be surely seen as big plus for side but it still needs to improve its attackers performance for sure.

Basaksehirspor need to focus for its best performance against Leipzig.

Basaksehirspor is going to come out for its 1st game at Champions League group stage game against RB Leipzig who has reached to semi-final during last season performance in pretty difficult group.

Without doubt, there is not much expectations from Basaksehirspor in this competition and in this game particularly as there is not much chances been seen with such opponents in the group like Leipzig, PSG and Manchester United. Despite of winning Trabzonspor during previous week in the league, its only been their first win of the season and first 2 goals so it hard to say side is in good condition even through their did get rightfully motivation from that game. Therefore, Basaksehirspor would be coming to game as underdogs and this to some extend could provide some relaxation and reduce pressure which mentally could provide some calmness for side for sure. RB Leipzig on their part are at good condition, being so far leaders in the Bundesliga and would be aiming to continue this top performance in that game.

Hence, Basaksehirspor would be coming to difficult game which they need to focus on and provide best performance their can without doubt to show at least strong confident performance.
