What happened in Turkish football today? 21/07/2020

Trabzonspor terminated contract with Huseyin Cimsir.

Trabzonspor has terminated contract with its head coach Huseyin Cimsir with mutual agreement following loss of points towards end of the season especially after club has lost points while being ahead during this games.

It needs to be noted that when coming to performance of Huseyin Cimsir with his predecessor Unal Karaman, he didnt provide much worser performance with having similar results but interestingly Trabzonspor supporters were angry for Karaman to live side while Huseyin Cimsir has been criticised so much. One of the main reasons of this is that during Karaman club did manage to stay close into title aim while Cimsir loss of points led them to loss this opportunity especially when it was leaders with some weeks left to go. Still, even through Cimsir who is being young coach did provide very good performance during his stay in the club, not being able to solve issues with defensive which without doubt been main reason for side to lose those points has costed them title.

Therefore, to some extend even through Cimsir didnt deserve so much criticism which he recieved he has been coach which led team which has lost title when it did have good advantage to get it at one point.

Basaksehirspor last game should be played without supporters due of Covid19 pandemic.

Basaksehirspor CEO Goksel Gumusdag has stated during his interview that he has send request to TFF to ask for their final game in the league against Kasimpasa to be moved to 17:00 on 26th June with 4,000 supporters, with TFF has changed time of game.

However, TFF didnt provide statement about allowing supporters to the game. It is crucial here to note that TFF CEO Nihat Ozdemir early did state that supporters will not be until end of the season and also mentioned that supporters will not be allowed to game if title winner would become clear. Therefore, with condition of Covid19 it would be expected for him to stay with this stance, but with Basaksehirspor despite being private company still has direct and unhidden connection with ruling party, this decision could be changed directly due of them even through time would be show. But apart of risk this could be having into Turkish fight against Covid19 and also issue of keeping word, this should not be changed.

Therefore, it does look like game would be played with supporters and so would be celebration of them getting its 1st Super League title in history in empty conditions which would be right decision.

Irfan Can Kahveci is likely to move to Europe during this summer transfer window.

Basaksehirspor player Irfan Can Kahveci despite of winning title and got chance to play at Champions League is expectd to be going into European side, very likely to one of the Spanish club.
With showing good performance both at Basaksehirspor and Turkish National Team where he played crucial role with this title and leading Turkey to Euro 2020 it should be unsurprising to see such strong interest towards him from high number of European club with Spain showing big interest.

Likely for him, Basaksehirspor CEO Goksel Gumusdag is also looking very positively regarding moving his players openly to other clubs especially to Europe so if Kahveci does make deal with one of the clubs, Basaksehirspor would also assist him even throw it would be focussing naturally to get also some good transfer fee in its disposal.

Without doubt Irfan Can Kahveci is in level to perform in Europe and could use this opportunity to improve as player from now on.
