What happened in Turkish football today? 10/07/2020

Besiktas continues its fight for 3rd spot.

With all of its direct opponents losing points during this week for 3rd spot race, which could be ticket for Champions League if CAS approves 1-year ban to Trabzonspor from European competition, Besiktas got rised to 4th place even through it is hard to note that side provided very good performance against Kasimpasa.

With Besiktas losing unexpectedly on previous week to Kayserispor, all of its opponent did lose points again this week which could be seen from how team has started game with goal from Tyler Boyd but again side didnt manage to carry on strong performance as game continued in 1st half. In fact, performance from Besiktas could be diveded into 2 halves where side did provide good performance in 2nd half but failed to do so during 1st half. Still, it was pleasant to see that Kevin-Prince Boateng provided good performance playing possibly his performance since joining team and also scored equaliser. This result would certainly provide motivation for last 3 games during this season and its fight for 3rd spot. Only negative are injuries from Gokhan Gonul and Burak Yilmaz.

Now, Besiktas would need to focus towards upcoming 3 games and to get 9 points on the end with good performance.

Basaksehirspor likely to meet with Manchester United if it passes Copenhagen tie.

Basaksehirspor if it manages to keep its advantage against Copenhagen Europa League last 16 stage of 1:0, would very likely meet Manchester United at next stage which would be start for them of final 8 mini-tournament in Germany.

With Manchester United winning 1st leg tie against Lask Linz with 5:0 scoreline, would be meeting with winner of Basaksehirspor tie if their would not be huge surprise. Again, it needs to be reminded here that Basaksehirspor does have only minumum advantage of Copenhagen and even through their is expectation for team to be aiming for quarter-final it still needs lots of to do with playing 2nd leg in Denmark. Stating that, with high possibility for club to be coming out to the game as being Super League champions would certainly provide high motivation. Meanwhile, meeting with Manchester United if it gets there would provide strong experience for both Okan Buruk and club and possibly get surprising result with this being 1-tie game.

With Basaksehirspor being only representative at play-off rounds from Turkey it did provide so far great performance and it would be expected to be continued to do so when Europa League resumes.

Super League has got positive Covid19 test result.

TFF has announced that unnamed Super League referee has got Covid19 positive test result and would be at 14-day quarantine. Following with change of referee for Super League 32nd week game between Fenerbahce and Sivasspor gave view who was that referee.

Even through it is not certain if he is one, from announcements after Covid19 test result, does make it possibility that infected one is being Abdulkadir Bitigen is being referee since he was taken as being referee of Super League game between Fenerbahce and Sivasspor, with Ali Palabiyik being appointed to position. Meanwhile, this announcement makes it clear that its being 1st top referee in the country who has got Covid19 positive test result and as always we wish for fast recovery.
