What happened in Turkish football today? 29/11/2019

Roma showed how far behind Basaksehirspor from top level football.

Roma with its quality and concentration towards game has provided crucial lesson to Basaksehirspor with its performance especially during 1st half as it has beaten them with 3:0 scoreline and has controlled game from start to an end.

Basaksehirspor as it is known did come out to the game as leaders and being 1 win away from knockout stages but it has been expected that it would be having some difficult time against strong Italian opponent and this has become clear. Basaksehirspor which has been praised with its recent years performance at Super League didnt manage to provide all its strengths which it has been noted during recent seasons with Roma without doubt didnt allow them to provide high level performance in their own part. With also conceding goals during 1st half of the game did provide into motivation of the team which led to slow pace where Roma has been playing for time while Basaksehirspor didnt get back mentally to the game. Still, Basaksehirspor needs to keep its motivation high as it needs to win Borussia Monchendblach in last week of group stage to get to the knockout stage.
Roma on their part did get important win which it got purely from class and made an important step for knockout stages at the tournament where its one of the favourites to win title.

As been stated, Basaksehirspor still has realistic chances to get to the Europa League knockout stages but it needs to show more motivated confident game against Borussia Monchengblach.

Besiktas got its first win but it was only for prestige.

Even through Besiktas did come out to the Europa League game against Slovan Bratislava arleady being relegated from competition, it has been only side to win among Turkish sides in this week.

Besiktas still took some time to get into game as it only managed to show high level performance during last 30 minutes, which has been also time when side has scored winning goals which brought its first 3 points at the tournament where it got too late. One of the reasons why it took time for side to get into playing habit against Slovan Bratislava with side starting game with half best squad and half with 2nd squad which did allow Slovan to find one goal. Still, it was important for Besiktas to get win both for country points, prestige and also keep its winning habit carried on which would help them domestically at least until mid-season break.

Besiktas did provide very dissapointing performance in competition but it would aim to end group stage at high note this time beating Wolves in last game.

Trabzonspor focuses into youngsters at Europa League

Trabzonspor head coach Unal Karaman carries on providing Europa League as an opportunity for young players to get some playing time and get experience from European football as more than half of team against Getafe came from academy.

It needs to be noted that despite of loss, with taking account into quality of squad Trabzonspor youngsters did provide some promising performance and made it clear that if those players carry their developments their would become important players both to Trabzonspor and whole Turkey. This actions from Karaman could be criticised as Turkey needs some coefficient points, but he decided to focus into future of the team and hence could not be critcised as this period, if carried on done in good manner, could move into improvement for side which would also help with coefficient points likely in the future. Trabzonspor still needs to go through this year competition as it didnt show good performance and still needs to move towards being better side for European games.

Trabzonspor should not be blamed a lot since there is gap with European football and Turkish clubs this season but this can provide good reference point from next season where it can be again at Europe.
