Konyaspor has won Super Cup by good performance against Besiktas.
Konyaspor has won 1st cup of the 2017-18 season by beating Besiktas at the Super Cup with 2:1 scoreline showing much more organised and combative football and has shown great achievement against what by many is seen as strongest team in country right now.
It needs to be stated that Konyaspor in fact is showing a very good performance so far during 2017 as it has won its 1st Turkish Cup in its history and also Super Cup at the tournament which it has competed for 1st time. In addition to that it became first team to win Super Cup outside of big 4 teams. What is more crucial here that it has won in well-deserved manner. Konyaspor head coach Mustafa Resit Akcay has certainly continued great performance which was shown by team in last 2 season with Aykut Kocaman. Stating that Akcay has also shown great and memorable performance with Osmanlispor in Europe it would be reasonable to expect top performance from them both in Super League and Europa League this season also. It does look like team is ready for new season and could be among teams who would perform great at top half.
Konyaspor certainly has provided positive view and opinion from its performance at the game yesterday and could be team to watch after for next season.
Besiktas are not ready for upcoming season.
In other hand of the coin we are seeing Besiktas, which wasnt able to show great performance at the game yesterday and looked like it wasnt ready for upcoming season. It did show worrying images at the friendlies also indeed.
Even through Besiktas has been seen as best team in country for last 2 years, in same period of time it didnt manage to win Super Cup with losing on penalties during last season against Galatasaray and losing this time with mistake by Pepe who has led to give penalty kick. Certainly, Pepe wasnt bought to make this mistakes in upcoming season but as always with his being his 1st game and being international star he would be forgiven by the team and fans at least for now. Besiktas as been mentioned yesterday does have some problems at defensive half of the field with number of injuries and also not having enough defenders such as losing Marcelo. Pepe is great player but he could not be enough to solve Besiktas defence issues.
Regardless of poor performance and also taking account that its early days at the season with Super League not even starting, it needs to be stated that Besiktas are favourites to win league title again but it can start poorer than expected upcoming season.
Turkish Sports and Youth Ministry needs to stop this violence at the stadiums by hooligans.
Apart of Konyaspor winning Super Cup during yesterday's game, another point which needs to discussed about is once again on-going terror of behaviour by hooligans during the game, this time especially led by Konyaspor site.
All this behaviour by Konyaspor which could end in much more tragic way with Konyaspor fans, or more precisely, hooligans have tried to attack Besiktas supporters and also after Cenk Tosun goal which made scoreline 1:1 an entrance to the field by supporter with knife in his hand could be very worrying. It is certain that Turkish Sports and Youth Ministry referring to law against sports violence, should take this issue in more serious manner and try its best to sort out this issue. It is easy to recognise those people who were involved with those actions and when being identified should be taken into custody and recieve life-ban from stadium entrance as it is best way to stop this to repeat again or be propagated by same groups.
This calls to make some actions has been taken for long time and does get out of hand at Turkish football and its time to actually make this into reality to stop violence at the stadium field.
