What happened in Turkish football today? 21.08.2017

Fenerbahce has some big issues at the back especially with Volkan Demirel performance.

Fenerbahce poor start of the Super League has carried on with a draw against Trabzonspor at its home ground at the game where it was hungry to win it and has provided much better performance compare to Goztepe and Vardar games but still its has many places to improve on especially at defensive aspects.

As been stated at our blog yesterday, Fenerbahce did provide a good performance during the game and has been more forward seeking especially towards end but it needs to be stated that it has some issues at the back especially with Volkan Demirel who carries on making big mistakes at the goal. With such poor performance and also Kameni not providing great performance against Vardar there is naturally some worry for the goalline. Stating that Fenerbahce did show some improvement with players like Soldado and Giuliano being introduced during 2nd half which could also mean why the attacks has been raised by the team. Mathieu Valbuena meanwhile has carried on being a best player at the team and did show what important role he would play at this team during this season.

Fenerbahce would now meet an important game against Vardar as it would try to turn around 2:0 deficit to get to the group stage. If it plays its football at high level it would not have any problems, but problem is its not presenting this football yet even through it got closer yesterday.

Trabzonspor wasnt brave enough at the front after Burak Yilmaz injury.

Trabzonspor in other hand has also provided a great performance against Fenerbahce as it has shown game where it wanted to win game even through it could been argued to some extend that their were not brave enough to go forward.

Taking account that Trabzonspor didnt win at Fenerbahce home ground for long time this scoreline with such a gameplay could be seen as positive side for this upcoming season. With the record which
Fenerbahce plays at home this point could play an important role of leading it to end season at high note. One of the aspects of the game without doubt has been injury of Burak Yilmaz as he was one of the main creative player who could pass Fenerbahce defence which he has shown with goal at 4th minute. In fact after Burak Yilmaz has been substituted the game has turned for Trabzonspor to start playing more defensive and secure football as it had lost this creative and speed aspect at the front. In fact, Trabzonspor has found its 2nd goal from long-distance goal scored by Olcay Sahan. Still Trabzonspor has shown great performance and does provide positive view for this season. If it was even more brave at game it might even win it.

Trabzonspor has provided a great start for this season and would now meet against newcomers Goztepe where it would be looking for a win and getting to national team break with very high motivation.

Basaksehirspor can provide European level performance against Sevilla.

Basaksehirspor would try to make one of the biggest surprises of the Champions League play-off stage as it would meet with Sevilla in Spain after losing game with 2:1 scoreline last week but was highly praised for their performance.

It needs to be stated that Basaksehirspor has provided a very good performance against Sevilla which was praised by many including Sevilla head coach Eduardo Berizzo who has stated that their need to play at high level tomorrow if their want to pass it. Basaksehirspor needs to find 2 goals at the game tomorrow which is of course is not easy task against such an experienced team but it needs to provide at least same performance as it did last week and even if it doesnt get to group stage come out from the tie with heads being high and looking forward for Europa League. There was no Turkish team who passed play-off stage so far at the Champions League so its not disaster for them if their wont achieve it. The main focus for Basaksehirspor is to provide high level performance at the game.

Basaksehirspor is slowly becoming a very strong and stable team and its not surprising that it has high aims in Europe and tomorrow game for certain would be very important for rest of the season in sense of motivation.
