What happened in Turkish football today? 10.08.2017
PFDK has given 5-game ban to Konyaspor and 1-game ban to Besiktas following Super Cup.
Professional Football Disciplinary Committee has announced fines and bans following Super Cup game between Konyaspor and Besiktas. The following decisions certainly as was expected has led for some parts to be unhappy especially Besiktas even through their punishments are less severe.
From announcement from PFDK, it was announced that Besiktas has recieved 1-game ban while Konyaspor has recieved 5- game ban following actions on the field from both Besiktas and Konyaspor. It needs to be noted that Konyaspor even through were unhappy with statements made from Besiktas CEO Fikret Orman following the game, did state that it was responsible for following action and did have its own internal investigation. Besiktas main argument for its defence, which it would run its defence case at arbitration, is that it wasnt involved at any wrongoings and its fans didnt enter to stadium even through their are reports which state otherwise. Besiktas to some extend sees this case as similar to UEFA punishment following Europa League game against Olympique Lyon.
Meanwhile, Konyaspor has also 1-game ban from Turkish Cup and hence its ban its been raised to 6 games which means that almost whole its 1st half of the season games at home it will played without fans.
Galatasaray CEO Dursun Ozbek has been selected as Clubs Union CEO.
Galatasaray CEO Dursun Ozbek has been selected as Clubs Union new CEO following resignation of ex-CEO Goksel Gumusdag. It needs to be stated that Dursun Ozbek appointment has been given by majority as his only opponent has been Osmanlispor CEO Sadik Dik.
Ex-CEO Goksel Gumusdag has done lots of the service towards Turkish football with opening conversation of video-refereeing, hooliganism among many but Dursun Ozbek as representative of all Super League clubs has many things to do still especially trying to solve ongoing issue of hooliganism. Among interesting aspects is that assistant CEO of Union will be Fenerbahce adminstrator Sekip Mostoruoglu which means that both men and clubs would work together which could mean slight friendlier movement to each other from both sides. Of course, there is some doubt if Dursun Ozbek would do his job in good manner with his poor performance at Galatasaray with some people view but again its important that all club stay together and assist Dursun Ozbek as this important position and aim for everyone to move forward.
There is new beginning at Clubs Union but in same time continuation of Goksel Gumusdag as he had good period as CEO and hence doesnt need to fix lots of things at this system but it wont be easy for Dursun Ozbek either way.
Super League 2017-18 starts tomorrow with high expectations.
Following 68 days break, Super League 2017-18 season would be starting tomorrow at 21:45 with surprise side of last season Basaksehirspor against Bursaspor which would be looking for new beginning and promises to bring very exciting season for us.
With amount of transfers and also their quality around most of the teams at the Super League this season promises to be an exciting one. In fact, prior to start of the season we can name 5+1 teams which would be fighting for top position during this season and aim to show high level performance all season long. Those being as usual Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce which always fight for league title, add to this Trabzonspor who is celebrating 50th anniversary and hence aims to complete this season with league title. Basaksehirspor also aims to show that their performance last season was not accident and aim to build on that with transfers it made and aim to be at least at league title race. +1 team is Antalyaspor which has set its aim for Europa League and would provide its best football to achieve that. In addition, as always we might have some additional suprise teams.
Hence, we would be having very high level and exciting season according to expectation of pre-season and hence number of fans are arleady exciting as league starts tomorrow at 21:45.
