What happened in Turkish football today? 04.08.2017

Fenerbahce would meet against Vardar during Europa League play-off round.

Fenerbahce has qualified to the play-off round of the Europa League with beating Sturm Graz with an aggregate of 3:2 scoreline and would now meet with relevantly weaker opponent Macedonian team Vardar where it would be coming as strong favourite.

In fact, in this tie not only elimination could be seen by many as surprising result from Fenerbahce but also its achieving this in a difficult manner. Stating that it needs to be noted that Fenerbahce still needs to improve as could be seen from Europa League 2nd leg game at home where it would not be specifically stated that Fenerbahce has shown a great football especially with having difficulty at finding 2nd goal which it needed to get easier result at this tie. Fenerbahce head coach Aykut Kocaman following the game has stated that team would need another 2-3 months but it needs to still get good results and keep on improving as weeks carry on.

Fenerbahce does show some improvements compare to previous seasons in this past 2 seasons but there is distance which it needs to be taken but a good news is that Mathieu Valbuena does look to be great transfer to the team.

Basaksehirspor has difficult task against Sevilla at Champions League play-off round games.

It was expected prior to the Champions League play-off round draw that Basaksehirspor case of getting to the proper tournament will not be an easy one and getting Sevilla does have showed how difficult it would be to them.

Following the draw, Sevilla administrators did state that Basaksehirspor should be treated and is treted in that manner by them with full respect, but their it as good draw with Basaksehirspor not having much experience at the Champions League compare to their strong opponents. Stating that Basaksehirspor will not be likely to provide an easy task as it has shown in the games against Club Brugge where it has shown high-class football. In other words, Sevilla are coming out as strong favourites to get to the proper tournament but it wont be an easy task as by seen by many according to Europe. Sevilla of course has also small advantage of Simon Kjaer who could provide about some information about Basaksehirspor to the team.

Again, when competing at league route in the qualifiers it was also expected that Basaksehirspor would recieve strong opponents and hence it should not be treated as big surprise to be drawn with Sevilla but it wont be an easy task for them at all.

Mircea Lucescu will try to bring back Arda Turan to national team.

Among of Turkish teams completing at the Europe in the play-off rounds draws, the biggest focus at the Turkish football media today without doubt has been given to the press conference of Turkish National Team head coach Mircea Lucescu appointment of his role.

The main focus of the press conference even through was provided with limited amount of words has been about possible return of Barcelona player Arda Turan to the national team squad. Mircea Lucescu during conference has stated that Arda Turan is very important player for national team and he did talk and would carry on talking to him to solve this issue. Lucescu meanwhile has difficult job at once again get motivation up-in-high and also led  players to be once again focus towards the aim of getting towards World Cup 2018 which is not an easy task even through Turkish National Team does have good chances of getting their place at group to the much better place with good results against Ukraine and Croatia in next month.

Mircea Lucescu as known is very disciplined head coach and hence he could lead his team to get go forward and possibly bring good memorable performance with national team at this qualifiers.
