Fenerbahce has won its first league game after 4 week break.
Fenerbahce has won its first game since 19th week game against Basaksehirspor, or in other words after 4 weeks, against Osmanlispor with 90+1 goal by the Mehmet Topal shot which has provided some controversy due of possible hand ball.
Mehmet Topal goal was an important one in the sense of motivation and confidence of the team as it has also won 2-games back to back if we include Kayserispor win at the Turkish Cup on 2nd March. During Mehmet Topal goal there was visible that he had touched ball with the hand which has led lots of protest by the Osmanlispor players. In all fairness, Fenerbahce still was not able to provide its best performance and to some extend has provided similar performance which led them to lose points in last weeks, namely lack of creating good attacking chances despite of positive performance and control of the game. Without doubt, one of the key players of the game has been Jeremain Lens as he still shown best performance during the game and also coming out at the field following loss of his father 2-days ago and with taking due of psychological difficult situation it was important for him to stay professional and still provide his best football at today's game. In overall, Fenerbahce still has lack of confidence but it would raise with 2 good results this week.
Osmanlispor it needs to be stated did provide great performance with also creating a very good chances at the game and it needs to be stated that Fenerbahce has allowed to get forward and also an important role for Fenerbahce not to get more confident win at the game even more important was role of Karcesmarkas.
Fenerbahce following game against Kayserispor and also today against Osmanlispor has got a very good motivational boost and this could transfer to the next week game against Alanyaspor if it would come out with good set of mind.
Besiktas carries on its confident leadership at the league.
Even through Besiktas was pretty far from its usual top performance against Rizespor during Super League 23rd week game, it still has managed to win the game and overpass another barrier for its route for league title.
One of the reasons why such an unexpected poor performance by Besiktas, compare to their recent performance, could be due of calmness which has been created with point difference at the leadership at the league and also playing against Olympiakos at the Europa League last 16 1st leg game on 9th March. Besiktas did control game as statistics show that team has full dominance of the game but it had lacked conversion of those statistics with issues of attacks. To some extend, Rizespor which was looking for the point at the game, quite rightly, has mainly went behind the ball and provided strong defence which also played for Besiktas not to dominate with attacks. It still is 4 points ahead of league leaders so Besiktas winning league title is not certain yet and it should ignore media ways of stating them as champions as Basaksehirspor does have some potential to provide same historical title as did Bursaspor some years ago.
Right now, Besiktas would be fully concentrated towards Olympiakos game at the Europa League as it would play at the Athens and would try to get an advantage scoreline at the night. It does still has realistic chance to end season with a double and memorable Europa League.
Galatasaray needs to win Antalyaspor to fight for runner-up spot at the league.
As it been mentioned earlier, Galatasaray only aim for rest of the season is to fight for 2nd place at the Super League so it can runner-up spot for the Champions League qualifying stage ticket for next season.
And to achieve this aim it needs to win Antalyaspor as it currently 5 points behind them and their opponents would certainly see this game as a chance to get into top 4 spot as it getting closer to the Fenerbahce and Galatasaray to achieve this aim. Therefore, this game to some extend could also been seen as game of the week as their are many things at stand. Both teams it is known are giving full focus for a win as meanwhile Galatasaray head coach Igor Tudor is focussed to get his 1st win at his new club after failing to do in previous two games. It will not be an easy task as performance wise its not providing high performance due of not being used to the training tactics introduced by Igor Tudor but with him being at team for 3 weeks there must be seen some improvements at the attitute of the players instead.
The result meanwhile could identify the aims of the rest of the season as loss to Galatasaray would push them further for aim to get 2nd place spot while Antalyaspor result could identify the possibility for them to get Europa League spot.
