What happened in Turkish football today? 05/06/2022

Turkey starts with win against Faroe Islands.

Turkish National Team has started its campaign at Nations League League C Group 1 with comfortable scoreline win against Faroe Islands but there are some questions regarding of performance.

It needs to be mentioned that Turkey is being without doubt main favourite in the group with expectation of getting 100% wins out of 6 games, and it started its campaign with weakest side on the group. However, it did struggle until 37th minute until Cengiz Under did score an openning goal as it had only 1 shot on goal prior to this goal. However, it needs to be mentioned that favourite side always have issue before finding an opening goal unless it is found in early minutes. Therefore, to some extend this has been expected scenario but does raise question why it didnt find goal earlier. Positive note that Turkey did dominate 2nd half and got needed confidence and motivation for upcoming games.

Lithuania is being stronger side than Faroe Islands, and even through could not be compared with Turkey, it is clear it needs to show better game against them in upcoming game on 7th June.

Kayserispor appoints Omer Erdogan as club's head coach.

Kayserispor has announced officially on 5th June of appointing Omer Erdogan after news came that both sides did make deal few days ago.

Omer Erdogan did provide a very good and confident performance at Hatayspor during his period there, making side which did aim for high spots and in fact him leaving side has been as big surprise by everyone. However, this also shows, taking account that Erdogan is being to some extend demanding coach and to this Kayserispor should be ready. However, this appointment could be an important one for them as Omer Erdogan has potential to push side into top half of the table next season, which has been struggling factor for side in recent years.

Omer Erdogan is being high level coach and has all reasons to get good results in Kayserispor without doubt.

Riza Calimbay makes principal deal with Sivasspor.

Sivasspor is reported to be making principal deal with its head coach Riza Calimbay as it does sound as good contract for both parties.

Sivasspor head coach Riza Calimbay tends to making deals for only 1-season during his career, so if things dont go well in the end of the season, there would be not only issue between side. Even through just after Turkish Cup been won by Sivasspor, there was question if team would continue contract with him there is information that sides are close to make extension deal and this would be announced in upcoming future.

Sivasspor and Riza Calimbay has strong connection with each other and hence if deal would be made it would move for right direction for both parties for sure.
