What happened in Turkish football today? 16/06/2022

Mehmet Buyukeksi has been elected as TFF CEO for 1-year.

Mehmet Buyukeksi has been elected as TFF CEO as he did run as single candidate during election since all other 8 members were not able to reach number of signaturies to be eligible to run into election but despite that he got 158 votes out of 209.

As it is known, some part of the club, with Fenerbahce being on leadership, did have some questions if Mehmet Buyukeksi is being best choice for this position as there is argument that he has some connection with FETO. Still, it needs to be mentioned that he did have some good performance during his stay at Gaziantep where he did play important role for side to be going ahead. Mehmet Buyukeksi which has been elected for 1-year, has promised to keep same distance from each club and promises to solve all of the issues which are present right now at Turkish football but it needs to be admitted that he has pretty difficult task on his hand. But his willingness for now to be solving this issue provides some hope for future.

Mehmet Buyukeksi is taking Turkish football at difficult condition and without doubt he would need to be getting support from other clubs in this league.

Trabzonspor has extended contract with Stefano Denswill for 3+1 years

Trabzonspor has extended contract with its player Stefan Denswill for 3+1 years as he did show some good performance in this title season and without doubt has played an important for side to become champions.

Among making its side stronger, as Trabzonspor does so far during this summer transfer window, it would be also important without doubt for side to keep team strong for upcoming season with its current squad. With Stefano Denswill providing strong performance and also having some good connection with side without doubt did play an important role for such extension. It was also important to make such deal in the day when Anthony Nwakaeme has announced that he would be leaving side.

Trabzonspor ahs made an important extension with its good player Stefano Denswill but now would need to make some transfers as it did with Jens Stryger Larsen and Eren Haspolat.

Conference League 1st league game between BATE and Konya will be played at Konya stadium.

Konyaspor has announced that it has made deal with BATE Borisov to play 1st leg of 2nd qualifying round Conference League at home ground despite its being an away game.

However, according to deal the game would be played without supporters and hence would not necessarily provide strong advantage to side even through it does not need to travel. It needs to be remembered that reason for this decision has been due of UEFA sanctions towards Belarussian clubs which doesnt let them to play at home ground due of supporting Russian invasion to Ukraine. Therefore, it would be seen as good opportunity to be playing at ground which it is familiar. In fact, it could be seen pretty surprising for BATE to agree on this but this could be related for side not to be willing travel between two legs.

This could be seen as unexpected decision from UEFA and BATE, and it would be interesting how would Konyaspor use this advantage during this tie.
