What happened in Turkish football today? 03/06/2022

Turkey will start Nations League with Faroe Islands game.

Turkish National Team is going to start its Nations League Group C journey against Faroe Islands as side is expected to be getting all of the wins in this stage as their other opponents are being Luxembourg and Lithuania.

So far, Turkey did provide poor performance at the Nations League in past 2 seasons without getting tournament seriously enough which led them to compete at lower division and sides which are normally below they level. In addition, Turkey is going to start against weakest side in the group, Faroe Islands. Therefore, without doubt it would be expected from Turkey not only to win game but manage that with high competitive level and high number of goals. It would be also interesting to see what kind of squad would Stefan Kuntz start, with possibly giving chances for players who didnt get usually enough time.

It is expected for Turkey to get 4 out of 4 in this stage of tournament, but still its hard to know for sure as Turkey known to lose unexpectedly to weaker sides.

Istanbulspor becomes last side to be promoted to Super League.

Istanbulspor becomes 3rd and last side to be promoted to the Super League with returning to top division after 10 year absence and would be hoping to mark they place in this league and provide strong game.

It needs to be mentioned that Istanbulspor has been one of the strongest sides at the 1st league division both with style of game and squad and it did this advantage during 1st league division play-off game final game even through its been pretty low tempo game. Still, Istanbulspor as side needs to work on squad for upcoming season as it would not be enough to compete in the Super League and improve its performance with being more agressive but it does have some possibilities.

With Istanbulspor getting to top division, also means that almost half of sides, 8 teams out of 19 would be from Istanbul and we would see mini-Istanbul league.

Kayserispor has made deal with Omer Erdogan.

Kayserispor has made deal with Omer Erdogan for head coach position after ending career with Hikmet Karaman few days ago while Erdogan did leave Hatayspor unexpectedly in the end of the last.

Making deal with Omer Erdogan for Kayserispor should not be seen as big surprise as he is being probably best available coach right now among domestic ones and did leave his previous club in pretty surprising manner. Erdogan has all reasons to get some great results in his new club as it does have good squad and potential and with some good summer additions would become competitive side for sure. Only issue for Kayserispor that it needs to provide what he wants as he likely did leave for previous club due of misunderstanding.

Kayserispor did make deal with coach who could get some good result in upcoming season without doubt.
