What happened in Turkish football today? 07/05/2021

Besiktas having less pressure compare to Galatasaray but loss in game would provide pressure for last 2 weeks.

Besiktas would be aiming to make very important step towards winning Super League title with winning derby game against Galatasaray while their opponents would be coming to must-win game to have any opportunities to get thıs title.

With Besiktas being 4 points behind of getting title if its closest opponent Fenerbahce make 3 out of 3, there is in fact possibility for Besiktas to win title during Galatasaray game if it wins and Fenerbahce loses against Ankaragucu, scenario which is possible but unlikely to happen. Still with beating Hatayspor last week with 7:0 scoreline and general good mood Besiktas are coming out with strong self-belief and being focussed for title. Even through administrators side of the club, especially CEO Ahmet Nur Cebi does remind that without winning officially its early to call themselves champions it does provide view of strong self-confidence for winning. Only issue which which could raise to Besiktas is this self-confidence as draw or even loss could keep them at leadership but would provide pressure for last 2 weeks. Galatasaray would be likely providing much more risky and attacking focussed game and it would be interesting to see how Besiktas would respond.

If this game would been played few weeks early Besiktas would be seen as favourite due of form but due Galatasaray needing win more it could be seen more advantage.

Galatasaray only aim will be to win Besiktas with 3:0 scoreline.

As been noted above if Besiktas losses game it would keep its leadership with 2 games to be played, but Galatasaray with even drawing would be out of title race with only hope to get 2nd spot.

In addition, to this to raise their opportunities for title even further it would need to win game with 3:0 scoreline which in return it would be expecting for Besiktas to lose for last 2 games while Fenerbahce to draw. Even through this scenario is also being very difficult one without doubt, it still rises hopes more as with just win without getting upper hand in head-to-head would mean point difference would be 3+1 or in other hand it would need opponent to lose and draw. Hence, with Galatasaray at least for keeping its chances arrive for last 2 games will be aiming with very likely providing strong attacking game from start looking for an early goal with focus for 3:0 scoreline. Without doubt would be attitude for Besiktas as it would need to come out to field with strong belief that it can and find ways to prevent Besiktas to play its own game.

Galatasaray would be focussing to do everything to get 3:0 outcome to keep its title hopes arrive.

Fenerbahce need to focus to Ankaragucu game.

With Fenerbahce being 2nd spot with being 5+1 points behind Besiktas and Galatasaray only 1 point it does look like result of derby game would have more impact into their aims for last 2 weeks regardless how their play but of course getting win would keep them at title race.

Even through Fenerbahce chances for title does seem to be pretty low even through not as much as Galatasaray, quite naturally Fenerbahce keeps its belief and see this game as fight for title rather then 2nd spot as it should in this circumstances. Without doubt, even through derby does affect directly to them players would need to focus entirely to Ankaragucu especially as opponents are giving their fights to stay on the league and would provide strong resistance and best strategic game for Fenerbahce would be to start game similarly as they did against Erzurumspor last week to get confident scoreline and reduce self-belief of opponents.

Fenerbahce needs to win last 3 games without doubt and see what happens with its opponents as those 3 wins might even make them champions.
