What happened in Turkish football today? 10/05/2021

Besiktas could fell strong pressure after losing to Galatasaray.

With entering to last 2 weeks with 2+1 points advantage over Fenerbahce or in other words with being 4 points from title, Besiktas would be playing with Fatih Karagumruk which would be coming for formality game but losing to Galatasaray could provide some pressure to leaders.

As been noted beforehand did come to Galatasaray without much pressure but would be feeling under it if losses to it, and this more or less did happen as with games would be starting at same time, news from other games  could affect them even through the best which could be done for leaders is to forget to other games. With only 3 days between both games, with only having 1 full day training session is especially difficult for side which did lose crucial game and could be felt under pressure. Even through Fatih Karagumruk is playing for formality it tends to be playing always positive game and compare to Besiktas would be coming to game with high morale as it got 5:1 scoreline win and hence will have self-belief. Fatih Karagumruk did show some good performance against big clubs this season, and if it would focus to play its usual game it could affect directly to title race.

Besiktas without doubt is being favourite but some issues which been created with loss to Galatasaray could affect to them negatively.

Fenerbahce would need to find early goals against Sivasspor.

Fenerbahce player Enner Valencia and changes of Emre Belozoglu did play very important role for strong morale and confidence both for Sivasspor game and title race in general, but it would be tough game for them.

With Sivasspor focussing into 5th spot, with being being Hatayspor for 1 point, as it fights for Conference League spot which would be open for them if Besiktas wins Turkish Cup on 18th May. In addition to this, Sivasspor didnt lose for 17 games but its important to note that side didnt score more then 1 goal during last 5 games which could mean that if Fenerbahce wants to get good win it could provide tactical game of finding 2-3 goals to make their tasks easier. Even through Fenerbahce didnt want to get goal on last minute against Ankaragucu, this scenario could provide strong push into confidence with providing more confident performance for next 2 games. Both sides would be coming for win but Fenerbahce at least right now would want it more.

Fenerbahce would give its best as it does opportunity to end this penultimate week with 1 point advantage if it wins and Besiktas losses.

Galatasaray needs to score 6 goals against Denizlispor

Galatasaray even through being outsider at the title race, it would be playing more likely easiest game is it would be meeting with Denizlispor which is being only side so far which been relegated from Super League.

With Galatasaray equalised head-to-head with Besiktas and being 3 points behind, it would be aiming to reduce its goal difference as Besiktas is being +6 goals more. Even through its not known how Denizlispor would respond, Galatasaray without doubt would be focussing to get this goal difference into its and hence very likely to score up to 6 points hence would be showing strong attacking game and if achieved would be waiting for Besiktas to lose game.

Therefore, Galatasaray task is pretty straightforward: get 6 goals against Denizlispor and wait for they opponents to lose points.
