What happened in Turkish football today? 11/05/2021

Besiktas has kept its leadership but winning Goztepe could not be enough.

Besiktas has kept its leadership despite of losing to Fatih Karagumruk during Super League penultimate week thanks to Sivasspor, but didnt provide performance which did show signs of some poor performance for side which is fighting for title.

There were some expectation that Besiktas could have some difficulty moments against Fatih Karagumruk due if outcomes of last game against Galatasaray while Fatih Karagumruk did win 5:1 during previous season which did affect into morale of both sides. It needs to be noted that Besiktas didnt look to be side which been highly concentrated to the game with having some lack of concentration while Fatih Karagumruk once again did show strong attacking game even through it didnt play for very important aims and couldnt provide right focus for the game. Without doubt, some injuries which were present with Besiktas also did affect for this outcome. Besiktas without doubt did have very emotional game with also focussing to get back into 2nd half but did even concede when its opponent did have red card.

Fatih Karagumruk meanwhile did provide strong attacking game with being focus once again to play its own football not showing signs of its opponents and hence has been side which showed more attacking during 1st half.

Besiktas has kept its leadership thanks to Sivasspor winning Fenerbahce but did make their task for winning title into more difficulty and would need to win last game against Goztepe with keeping also goal difference.

Galatasaray has used advantage of its opponent losing points.

With taking account that Galatasaray did play against arleady relegated Denizlispor with winning game with 4:2 scoreline, but what didnt side where likely didnt expect is for other their opponents to lose points and suddenly made their task for title to be very realistic.

Galatasaray did come out among 3 sides which is fighting for title as being main outsider but at the end of the day all calculations has been changed as for Galatasaray it would need to find 3 goals more than Besiktas even if Besiktas does win their game. Stating that it needs to be noted that this win despite of win hasnt been very easy as Denizlispor until 2:1 did provide strong resistance with creating some opportunities but due conditions which both sides did come out this has been clear that side would be getting win and especially recieving positive news from its opponents did provide strong motivation which led for them to show more attacking game towards end and did find crucial 2 goals and did get incredible motivation as would be playing against Yeni Malatyaspor where it would be playing for sure for 3 points with high number of goals.

Denizlispor meanwhile did provide strong resistance towards Galatasaray as it did come out to the game with knowing that it would be relegated and with playing lots of academy players but of course motivation and quality did led for final outcome.

Galatasaray did lose very important game with being main winner of this week and would now look for win against Yeni Malatyaspor while waiting for Besiktas either to lose points or score less.

Fenerbahce lost opportunity to get into leadership instead falling to 3rd spot with 1 game left.

With Besiktas losing to Fatih Karagumruk, Fenerbahce did lose great opportunity to get into leadership of the table with losing to Sivasspor with 2:1 scoreline and has now fallen to 3rd spot which could mean them to lose Champions League spot.

It was expected for Fenerbahce to be having very tough game against Sivasspor but when the side is playing against title especially when getting very good news from Besiktas game it hasnt been expected from their side to concede 2 goals as Sivasspor without doubt did use poor from of Harun Tekin. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce assistant coach Emre Belozoglu which been highly praised for recent performance did focus to provide strong changes with squad as he did against Ankaragucu but this time those changes didnt have some impact as it did on that game as he did get out players which tend to show good performance and werent bad. It needs to be noted that Fenerbahce did focus to provide fighting spirit with creating high amounts and did find 1 goal right in the end by Cisse, but its been too late for them and even through still have mathematical opportunities it did make this task very difficult.

Sivasspor which did fight for 5th spot which could potential could be last ticket to Conference League did get into that spot with this outcome with providing strong and organised game getting deserved win.

Fenerbahce did lose its golden opportunity to get into leadership before last week but instead got into 3rd spot with having title hopes if it only it wins and both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce lose their games.
