What happened in Turkish football today? 18/05/2021

Besiktas has ended season with double as it beat Antalyaspor at Turkish Cup.

Besiktas has got confident win against Antalyaspor during Turkish Cup 2020-21 season final game and has ended this tough season with double as it did get Super League only 3 days ago at the game where Antalyaspor needs to be noted didnt provide enough pressure to its opponent.

During Besiktas history this is being 3rd double with winning Super League and Turkish Cup but this is very likely is being most important one and well-fought for them as this is being very difficult season, as it been for all clubs with high number of games without much rest and also midseason break. What made this game even more difficult for both sides as it did come without much rest and in fact Besiktas didnt have much pressure as it been rightfully busy with celebrating its Super League title. Even through there were signs with Besiktas been tired from previous season and didnt provide high level tempo of the game but still without doubt did provide high concentration to the game even through it did make number of mistakes with defenders during 2nd half which did led for Antalyaspor to create some opportunities. Still, it needs to be noted that Besiktas did make very important result with getting double in such difficult game.

As it is known Antalyaspor id provide some drop of performance in recent weeks without showing very good game at the Super League after securing its spot in the Super League and there were more that it might affect negatively to them in such difficult and crucial game. Without doubt, this been case with Antalyaspor as it didnt provide much pressure and did have lack of tempo which to some extend could be explained why it couldnt provide respond after conceding goal from Josef de Souza which been to some extend of such lack of self-belief and confidence. It is true that Antalyaspor did provide better game during 2nd half but it needs to be admitted that Besiktas did allow to some extend for them to get into themselves both due of scoreline and tiredness from such difficult season, It needs to be noted that Besiktas didnt play its best game, Antalyaspor didnt provide much response to win this game.

Besiktas following the game did lift Turkish Cup with ending double and would be recieving Super League on 19th May in its own with 2-hour celebration without supporters.

Besiktas will lift title without supporters.

Its been announced that Besiktas would organise its title celebration at Vodafone Park Arena on 19th May at 19:03 without supporters due of ongoing Covid 19 regulations where then it would be expected to have pretty quiet celebration.

Without doubt title celebrations needs to be done with supporters which to some extend been case with Basaksehirspor did manage to celebrate as it get exception but during that time Covid19 regulations were not as strict. Right now there is weekday 21:00-05:00 curfew and with celebration of Besiktas expecting to be lasting until 21:15, this would provide issues for supporters which obviously will not be able to get exception for visiting this kind of celebration. Still, celebration would be including some of the popular Turkish pop singers so it could provide some festive mood as their would be singing towards viewers at home and to players.

Henc, celebration of title would be going through in pretty modest manner at its home ground from 19:03 and will last for 2-hours.

Fenerbahce has moved CEO election.

Fenerbahce as been expected did announce that CEO election has been moved for 1 week, to 12-13th June due of Covid19 regulations as filling stadiums with current regulations will not be possible at all.

Covid19 as it is known continues to be affecting daily lives both in health and social lives and with government allowing limited number of delegates at the meetings, it is known that Fenerbahce would be having high number of people and hence in this condition would not be able to fulfill democratic election in its level. Therefore its been right decision to move date and time would show according to number of cases and vaccination if election would be able to take place on 12-13th June weekend.

Meanwhile, it is expected for Ali Koc to announce his candidacy for CEO election in upcoming days.
