Super League has been postponed for future date.
Government with Sports and Youth minister Mehmet Kasapoglu has got into scandal which has dominated Turkish football and whole community by managing to do what sports federations has managed to do with postponing all of the sports competitions in country.
It was known that apart of Galatasaray whole football community during last week has been waiting for UEFA decision regarding Euro2020 and its other competitions and hence has patiently waited for decision to be made by TFF which been expected to postpone league. However, TFF has announced it would continue league hence ignoring interests of all bodies involved including players, coaches, staff, broadcasters and journalists which led for high level of criticism. There were meanwhile also rumour that Kasapoglu has found during meeting that TFF and other clubs didnt have alternative plans and if that is case it needs to be admitted that this being truth worried news and does show how TFF is failing to do its work properly for sure. Meanwhile, TFF now aims to end season until 27th June but it needs to consider developments which happen in country and make it accordingly and in more professional manner.
This decision did save some serious actions which could be taken place at football clubs if games took place, but TFF did lose image of strong body.
Did FIFPRO play role for request to postpone league or...
It became clear that FIFPRO, from their own statement, has recieved high number of letters from foreign players in the league who showed their unhappiness for league to be continued which led them to call to postpone league. It does raise question if this been played role with this decision.
Reaction both from Turkish and foreign players in the league for games to be taken place has been done in pretty strong and agressive manner and it became clear that upper body of players interest has entered to this scandal directly. This development would certainly led for this scandal to become even bigger and into international level which certainly would not development which TFF and Turkish government would like to be affected. Reactions given by John Obi Mikel, Radamel Falcao and Fernando Muslera has been very crucial here and hence played direct role towards this decision for sure. Its true that John Obi Mikel did leave Trabzonspor too early, but this sacrifice played important role for this decision.
FIFPRO announcement without doubt did raise scandal into new level but decision to postpone did prevent for this to grow even more.
...was it Galatasaray stance which led for this decision.
Without doubt this conversation for postponing league and strong reaction towards TFF do not announce postponement up to now has been started from Galatasaray stance in previous week.
Its important to note that Galatasaray wasnt single club which demanded to postpone league last week, but it was one who made their sounds loud and in addition as noted above it waited for UEFA meeting. Strong stance from Galatasaray head coach very likely did affect into statements which been made by players and even through their would make those statements even if Galatasaray didnt take this stance, Fatih Terim gave them confidence into tone which their used which was directly stated towards to the administrative demands. Galatasaray took torch of providing word of interests of players and clubs and for sure led other 17 clubs to go behind them and made clear their view for league to continue.
Galatasaray did important mission and possibly prevented for some unwanted events to take place if league continue.
