What happened in Turkish football today? 12/03/2020

Basaksehirspor has got advantage over Copenhagen

Basaksehirspor continues with writing history as it has managed to win Europa League last 16 1st leg game with 1:0 scoreline thanks to penalty scored by Edin Visca and continue providing strong performance making everyone proud in Turkey.

It needs to be noted that game for almost whole game has been played in equal condition but Basaksehirspor most important looked to be strong and organised with looking for high amount of the chances with providing high level chances. This aspect without doubt been crucial role for Basaksehirspor with showing that as team it is strongly focussed into title race and also providing confident strong game. Without doubt high number of supporters who came to stadium which included not only Basaksehirspor supporters, which as it is known been very low number, but also high number of other clubs supporters without doubt affected into atmosphere and provided strong motivation and confidence to Basaksehirspor. It needs to be noted without doubt that team high focus of the team has affected in positive manner and hence played crucial role for penalty position which led for Edin Visca to score important penalty goal at 88th minute. Only negative point for Basaksehirspor been injury of Enzo Crivelli who became injured and could be loss to team in this tie and title race as he showed good performance this season.

Copenhagen needs to admitted did provide good performance during this game with looking also for chances but in all fairness did been much better then its opponents, and now side would look positively to 2nd leg.

Basaksehispor has got small advantage prior to 2nd leg which is scheduled to be played without fans due of Covid-19 virus unless if UEFA decides to postpone game due of same reason.

Trabzonspor got motivation prior to Basaksehirspor game.

Trabzonspor has regained its leadership in the Super League after beating Yeni Malatyaspor due of postponed 19th week game and got into equal amount of games with its direct opponents with 3:1 scoreline win, and will enter to Basaksehirspor both with 52 points.

Trabzonspor could be stated didnt provide very dominant game in sense of tempo but this been partly due of its opponents not providing much pressure to them as their didnt provide much pressure towards opponents which still could be understandable for them due of difficult condition which their go through right now. Trabzonspor meanwhile did have some ups and downs in recent games, failing to win last 2 official games so this win without doubt would provide crucial motivation to them prior to Basaksehirspor where it would be for sure coming out to the game which it needs to win. Trabzonspor therefore did get crucial win against Yeni Malatyaspor without providing too much  effort during game. Meanwhile, it is still unclear if Alexandr Sorloth would be able to play against Basaksehirspor in this week due of his injury as he needs to go through MR still.

Trabzonspor did get very important win but it would need to show high level performance against Basaksehirspor to make their league title aims more closer.

Football are in risk of not being competed this season.

So far, this blog has been focussed into Basaksehirspor game at Europa League and Trabzonspor crucial win at its own title race, but we need to be reminded that both tournaments have risk to be stopped and might not even complete in this season.

During this week, with Covid-19 having direct impact into football we are seeing high number of leagues either to be stopped for 2 weeks up to one month or games to be played without supporters. There is strong talks that all of the UEFA organised tournaments would also be stopped after this week hence leading for  organisation. Its important to note that one of the main reason are being air travel, high impact and some clubs having infected players and/or personnel which leads them to get into 2-weeks quarentine which therefore prevents for tournament to take place. So far, those aspects didnt affect much towards Turkish environment with only 1 suspect being and TFF doesnt aim to get into motivation but events does spread fast with UEFA only recently making it clear there is no plans to stop any its tournament. Right now its crucial to make actions which mostly important doesnt have some crucial health circumstances and also, if possible, wont damage tournaments.

With Euro 2020 also being in questions to be postponed towards other date, its questionable what would be fates of football tournaments.
