What happened in Turkish football today? 13/03/2020
Basaksehirspor has got advantage into tie which could not be even not concluded.
Basaksehirspor has got advantage against Copenhagen during Europa League last 16 stage even through it is been unclear if this tie and both tournament would be concluded during this season since 2nd leg games has been postponed with final decision expected to be made on 17th March.
Coming to game, it should be noted that Basaksehirspor did provide pretty strong and confident performance and even through during game their were pretty low number of chances it needs to be noted that all of those chances did come from Basaksehirspor and hence it did get to outcome. Stating that, it needs to be noted for both sides this unclear condition of future of this season at Europa League, even through it would be crucial to note that decision is being made right, did have negative impact into focus of the game which also could be explained why only goal did come from penalty kick. Right now there is strong possibility of this tournament not to be ended, and UEFA not counting this tournament to be taking place. It is crucial for UEFA and domestic leagues to make important decision with focussing into health rather then calendar.
Basaksehirspor did get into advantage in the tie whose future is being unclear right now, but this in current condition is not being most important aspect.
Konyaspor would be more concentrated to Fenerbahce game.
Foremost, its important to note that even through TFF has stated in time of writing that Super League would continue as been scheduled without supporters, this is risk that starting from this weekend Super League would also join into postponed leagues. However, and since there is no announcement, lets go to our blog traditional pre-game review.
Forgeting about Covid-19 outbreak, lets focus into Fenerbahce and Konyaspor analysis in normal circumstances and it needs to be stated both sides are currently struggling with their performances but with Fenerbahce getting further from Europa League through league spot, Konyaspor would be coming to even more importang game as it is being dangerously close to relegation zone. With this taking account, Konyaspor would be aiming for sure at least to get 1 point and even give strong chance for winning game, which it would see as bonus 3 points, as it would be playing struggling Fenerbahce for sure. Fenerbahce meanwhile carries on having some serious issues among most important ones still not having coaches and this certainly would have negative impact to whole game.
Konyaspor hence would be more concentrated to the game which as been noted would of course take place which seems to be case for now.
Playing without supporters is not solution, and leagues need to be postponed.
Aftermath of decision of Turkish government to play games at Super League until end of April among other sports tournaments, has raised quite naturally calls to postpone whole league since some fans would be still gathered around stadium.
It needs to be noted that reason for games to be played without supporters due of Covid-19 outbreak is to prevent for virus to go through supporters, however it would be highly expected especially with big 4 club supporters and during derbies their is no prevention at all for supporters to be gathered around stadium, case which took place in previous games without supporters. Now if supporters would be gathered, then playing those games without supporters with this circumstances is pointless.
Adding that players also be in risk for virus during games, it would be most logical reason to postpone tournament especially when this seems to be trend around Europe. In fact, with those aspects of fans gathered around stadiums would be taken place especially before, during and after Galatasaray and Besiktas game will very likely mean that following this week league will be postponed.
Decision to play games without supporters does show goodwill of parties involved, but it is not solution knowing nature of Turkish supporters. Its shame that TFF are not aware of this.
