What happened in Turkish football today? 15/03/2020
Covid-19 has overshadowed derby game.
One of the main derby games in this country between Galatasaray and Besiktas has been overshadowed with decision to play this week without supporters in the Super League while almost every single European country leagues has been postponed at least until end of April.
It needs to be stated that game which normally been awaited for long period of time, due of coronavirus outbreak which led to cancellation of league in major leagues and general developments has led without doubt main focus to that, which without doubt would be natural development. While looking at this specific game and also to other games in this week, high number of players motivation and psychology has been towards Covid-19 outbreak with players likely being worried about their health behind back. Even through most clubs didnt make announcements about this issue, it is known that all of the clubs are being unhappy for this week to be played and certainly demand for leagues to be postponed in upcoming weeks.
This result meanwhile would be unsatisfiying for both sides but once again when taking account which are happening both with virus and events at the football world would be taken into 2nd spot. Again, it is specifically hard to analyse this game with both sides having lack of concentration from both players both to be played without supporters but even more important due of Covid-19 outbreak which led for lack of concentration.
Both sides did lose 2 points but with Trabzonspor and Basaksehirspor apart of losing advantage of 2 more points didnt lose much for title race in the season which fate is being unclear.
Trabzonspor and Basaksehirspor game has ended with 1:1 scoreline with defensive style game.
Turkish Super League 26th week game between Trabzonspor and Basaksehirspor which had direct impact into title race has been ended with 1:1 scoreline as tiredness of mid-week games of both sides has affected directly from midweek games which led for low tempo of the game.
In addition of games to be played without supporters due of Covid-19 precautions, has also had direct impact into how games has been played during this week with having low excitement and low tempo as would been expected which without doubt did affect to this game. Still, it needs to be noted that precautions needed to be taken with such circumstances and it would been added league should be postponed until end of the season. It needs to be noted that Trabzonspor did provide slighly much more attacking game compare to Basaksehirspor but still didnt provide its similar attacking game which been seen in recent games with Sorloth and Nwakaeme being pretty ineffective during this game as it found goal with own goal from Martin Skrtel. Still, in similar manner as with Basaksehirspor did provide strong defensive game not allowing for Basaksehirspor to get into high amount of the chances even through it did concede only goal due of mistale with leaving Demba Ba to be free in that position.
Meanwhile, similar things could be said with Basaksehirspor performance who even through did raise bit tempo of the game during 2nd half of the game did provide much more passive performance with aiming to reduce tempo of the game especially on 1st half providing high defensive game. This performance of both sides, especially with Basaksehirspor which does have bit less quality in front, did provide much more focus with showing defensive performance and therefore with game being played in such manner as loss of game of both sides could have affected to the circumstances of its title race. Once again it still needs to be reminded that also game to be played without supporters also affected to the game as supporters without doubt does push team forward.
Despite of both sides has lost 2 points for title race, both of them would end this week with top 2 positions at the end of the week and would look for rest of the season, if it would be completed.
Fenerbahce is coming out to games purely for formality.
With talks about postponining this game is been discussed very actively with possibility for decision not to continue could be coming next week, it does look like Fenerbahce did enter to break with its performance.
Fenerbahce without doubt is getting worser and worser by each game which could be seen that it didnt had any shots into Konyaspor which didnt win any games since October and did play with 9 men. Without doubt with this circumstances Konyaspor deserves al of the praises both mentally and performance wise, but Fenerbahce didnt provide any strong performance and sadly beating Fenerbahce turns to be not seen as big achievement looking how players are treating and providing performances right now. Therefore, Fenerbahce has mentally completed this season and being very low motivated for its performances right now and surely would be happiest side among everyone to enter break due of Covid-19 with taking account of all its problems it has internally and externally and does come out to the games as formalities. Once again, Konyaspor needs to be praised which did provide high focus and did more or less everything what needed to win game with those circumstances, and did everything what Fenerbahce didnt show during game.
Fenerbahce loss to Konyaspor taking account with playing with extra 2 men during last 20 minutes sadly is not being seen as surprise as side is showing very poor performance without winning for 7 weeks.
