What happened in Turkish football today? 13.09.2017

Besiktas has shown top class performance against Porto.

Besiktas has started its Champions League season at the Group G with an important win against Porto with 3:1 scoreline at away game and it has won it in very deserved manner sending strong message to other teams at the group.

Besiktas has shown a very good performance at the start of the tournament controlling game from start of the game even through it needs to state that Porto has started in good manner also and has created very good chances during the game. Whole team at the Besiktas has dominated game from start to end with organised performances at the back and also creating great chances especially by Ryan Babel and Cenk Tosun, who also have scored 2 goals and have been very active during today's game. It is clear that Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes has analysed Porto in very good manner which has led him for them to provide a very organised performance from start to an end. The players concentration towards game has been very good. Only negative aspects which can be noted during game is another mistake by Dusco Tosic which has led for own goal, as Tosic even through is good defender continues to make mistakes sometimes at the back through his moves or agressive plays.

Porto has provided also good performance but were not good enough for today game. The absence of Maxi Pereira and Vincent Aboubakar it needs to be stated has affected their performance and its important that Besiktas has ended winning performance of Porto this season and also became 1st Turkish team to do so in history.

Besiktas has started Champions League in perfect manner against probably strongest team at the group,  and with such a win has send strong message for ending group stage at top 2 and get to play-off round 1st time in its history.

Basaksehirspor does come out as strong favourite against Ludogorets despite of not having much experience at tournament.

Basaksehirspor is going to start its journey at the Europa League against Bulgarian side Ludogorets as it would be going as favourite for the game and this factor is very likely to be seen not only in Turkey but also across Europe after very impressive performance at Champions League qualifying rounds.

Even through Basaksehirspor didnt participate at the Europa League group stage yet, being eliminated during past 2 seasons from qualifiers it is expected to come out as strong favourite for the game tomorrow and also at the group stage. With high numbers of big transfers of experienced players to the squad, Basaksehirspor would be coming out knowing how to play against Ludogorets as it carries on impressive performance of the last season in the league also so far. One of the advantages which their opponents have through is an experience at the European tournaments compare to Basaksehirspor. Ludogorets might not shown very memorable performance but their played high number of games in Europa League and Champions League and hence have this advantage against Istanbul side.

Still, Basaksehirspor does come out as favourite against Ludogorets but it needs to stay focussed and show good start to its European campaign this season.

Konyaspor is not in level to compete with Olympique Marseille.

It is certain that main aim for Konyaspor during this season of Europa League is to show better performance at the tournament compare to last season where it only has ended with 1 point. It would be aiming to show much better performance with starting against Olympique Marseille at 1st week.

Konyaspor would start its European season against team which has high experience at the European front and has gathered high number of successes and does come out among teams who have potentiality to win whole tournament. Konyaspor which didnt manage to carry on its top performance after winning Super Cup earlier this season needs to raise its performance it has shown if it wants to end game with at least one point against Olympique Marseille. Unfortunately, it would be hard to state that Konyaspor is capable to fight in same level with French side but if their try their best then surprise might come out. One of the main mistakes of last season was to show too much respect and play too much defence at Europa League, this season its need to balance its tactics.

This season Konyaspor has opportunity to show better side at Europa League  and performance at the tournament compare to last season but it wont be easy for them at all.
