What happened in Turkish football today? 10.09.2017
Galatasaray loses its first points this season against Antalyaspor.
Antalyaspor has ended domination of Galatasaray at this season Super League as Samuel Eto'o goal has led their to their opponents of losing points as 4th week game has ended with 1:1 scoreline. One of the main reason for this result has been also slow paced football shown by both sides.
Galatasaray has been pretty far from its attacking football and high tempo performance which we became used to see from Istanbul side but surely one of the main reasons for such a game has been pretty hot and humid weather which being present at one of the leading resort cities in Turkey. Especially after Bafetembi Gomis openning scoreline Galatasaray has reduced tempo and has provided strong defensive football but didnt create much chances themselves hence making game into slower tempo compare to previous games. This tactic did work well until 84th minute, until Samuel Eto'o has found equaliser, once again showing that winning with 1:0 scoreline is too risky scoreline. Hence one of the main mistakes of Galatasaray is being too confident that 1:0 scoreline would be enough for them to win the game. Its hard to state that Galatasaray has lost its speed but when playing defensive football its not strong enough to win game.
Antalyaspor meanwhile even through its not yet at the level which team would like to be did show lots of improvement compare to previous 3 weeks. Samuel Eto'o has also silenced all this rumours that he might leave team with scoring an important goal.
With past high scoring results this has been one of the most anticipating games of this week but unfortunalely it didnt fulfill this as both teams has decided to pay economical football due of hot weather.
Trabzonspor substitutes has brought an important win against Genclerbirligi.
Trabzonspor which has started pretty poorly against struggling Genclerbirligi during Super League 4th week game, has managed to win game with 3:1 scoreline with the help of the substitutes who have scored all 3 winning goals for a team.
Among factors that substitutes were ones who found all of the goals for Trabzonspor and has played an important role for today's win, the very impressive performance were shown from youngesters at the side especially from Abdulkadir and Yusuf. In fact, Trabzonspor among conceding goal as early as on 6th minute, didnt provide a very good football during 1st half and did show an image that it would have difficult game and have trouble at winning it. But with raising tempo during 2nd half of the game, Trabzonspor has also used factor that Genclerbirligi has become tired during high tempo of 1st half which their showed and had used an advantage of what became obvious of lackness of stamina which their opponents had. This win and usage of the squad especially during 2nd half has provided good motivation towards players of this important season and has also shown into capability of his squad to head coach Ersun Yanal.
Genclerbirligi did show some positive aspects during 1st half giving an image that the team could have started new beginning with Mesut Bakkal. In all fairness, Genclerbirligi did perform much better compare to first 3 weeks of this season but it does have stamina issues which Bakkal needs to work during season.
This win for Trabzonspor certainly would provide lots of motivation and concentration for upcoming games and with way how it developed could be turning point for them.
Fenerbahce is underperforming in tactical aspects of the game.
Fenerbahce carries on its very poor start of this new season as it has lost to the Basaksehirspor at its home ground with 3:2 scoreline during Super League 4th week game and even through it was their first loss of the league, their previous two draws shows team is in poor condition.
What makes it even more worrying for Fenerbahce is that Basaksehirspor didnt play its best football and after making scoreline as 2:0 their have reduced tempo. It needs to be stated in the side of Fenerbahce that players did give their best during game and has shown signs that their want to win game but there is some tactical and quality factors which played an important for final outcome of the game. It does look like team didnt get understanding from Aykut Kocaman tactics and team work which could be seen from high number of mistakes during passing ball. There is positive side during this view that Fenerbahce did try to win game after losing 2:0 and not many teams would be able to turn game while losing 2:0 to Basaksehirspor but still factor that Fenerbahce has started game with losing it straight away does show defence is not at their best. Fenerbahce is conceding at each game and during 4th games has conceded 8 goals. On other side, it was great win for Basaksehirspor at difficult away game and has made once again strong message of it fighting for league title.
Fenerbahce still has serious issues and needs to improve at tactically and stragetically issue which should be solved by noone else than head coach Aykut Kocaman during this week.
